Hi all with reference to phone calls and changing phone numbers. We had the ringer on silent and answering machine on permanent from end of November til last week!! We were able to change our number for free as we were also using it as a business number and the business is now closed. It's been such a relief to have a fresh start with a new number and not being afraid to answer the phone. None of our creditors will get our new number! Family never ring that often and can leave a message or ring mobile. I think i would have paid if I had to just for the peace .DMP Mutual Support Thread Member 3000

Right iv emailed all paperwork over to payplan, now just to wait to see if they can swap me over to them, but if not iv decided to go it alone and still cancel the fee paying dmp.
Iv spent all day sorting out the budget to the last penny for the next 4 months (i find this so theroputic!! how sad am i!!) and am very confindent that i can deal with the remaining debts myself if payplan cant swap me to them (although i cant see a problem with it).
I can access all current ballance still online and pay creditors direct via their websites or at the bank, i would send them a covering letter with upto date financial statment explaining i have left my dmp company to allow me to pay them more money as i wouldnt no longer be paying a fee, and ask them to deal direct with myself now via my email or mobile or post.
What do you think?? I know one or two of you on here have done a self managed DMP and wonder how you find it?? Iv used the comany im about to leave for 3 yrs and know how payment are split and how to do a detailed finanical statment, and have dropped to 8 creditors from an original 12 (although this months managment fee that i will not be paying will clear 2 of them) leaving me with 6 to manage myself, until i hear from payplan or decided to go it alone.
Any advice from self managed dmp`ers would be great
Donna

Hi All. I'm new to the site and will be having my telephone appt with CCCS 28/01. I'm hoping to be able to go on a dmp (fingers crossed!). The thing I'm most scared about is losing my car (which is on hp). I've included the payments in my budget but am worried that my creditors won't see £250 pcm as necessary for car finance. My round trip to work and back is 350 miles/week so I need something reliable. Has anyone else had experience of this they can advise me on?DMP mutual support thread member: 253

I dont know but it could be possible to just leave it out of your DMP if you can keep up with the payments as they are, aswell as your DMP payment. I may be wrong but i'm sure i've read another thread where someone is doing this. I guess the best thing to do is just hang on for your appointment ...or have you tried their on line debt remedy? This gives an option to include HP agreements in your spending and then at the end will give you the options available. DPM was the only one for us. This is all confidential they take no names or addresses etc, so you could do it as well as your telephone appointment, at least it will give you an idea?

Hi,
If your car is on HP then you should be fine as HP agreements cant be included in your DMP as the amount borrowed is secured against the car. It is classed as an essential expense like say your mortgage or council tax.
CCCS will advise you on this more when you have your appointment. As long as you can keep up the payments on the hp agreement then no one can take the car off you because you dont technically own it until the hp agreement is finished.0 -
Thanks both for that. I'm just really scared at the mo of whats going to happen. Has to be done though, carry on robbing Peter to pay Paul and such.
I'm also wondering, I have a debt with First Direct (loan & OD) which is part of HSBC. My hubby who won't be on the dmp as all debt are in my name has an account at HSBC in his sole name. If I have my wages paid into there can they get at them to offset my debt?DMP mutual support thread member: 253

Hi..Again(!) I could be wrong but i dont think so because the guy at CCCS told me that my husband could keep his Natwest acc even though i have debt with them and we are both going on DMP, however when we realised that the acc hubby has used for years as just his actually has both names on it became a big no no. Personally for my own peace of mind if your hubby can get another account it might be the way to go. We both opened Lloyds TSB Classic accounts on line on Wednesday night and all the paperwork inc acc no and sort code came thru today so it can be done really quickly. Still an inconvenience though:-(DMP Support Member 254. LBM 20/1/2009DMP though CCCS starting 01.04.2009Debt Free date March 2015 but would love to be there for OH's 40th in 2014.0 -
I've done it and finally bitten the bullet ... been on CCCS website and agreed to enter the DMP. :j One problem is that while this bit is being processed I can't access my remedy plan booklet!
I know it is the right decision as I have been ill with worry over the last year and although I have tried to put things right have just made things worse. Robbing Peter to pay Paul and letting the rob dogs make silly amounts of money from me through the interest charged.
Waiting for our pack (joint plan with OH as some of the debt is joint) and have agreement in principle for an account with Nat West all done online! Paperwork to be sent out for signatures and id etc. then can redirect our salaries etc into a new account.
Should we should cancel the DD's for our creditors now so we don't make Feb payments or should we wait and try to make the Feb payments, as they won't have had any contact from us/CCCS yet?
I was thinking that I will continue to pay loans until I have paperwork from CCCS and that I would make token payments to credit cards?????
Think this site is fantastic and the support network is great. I plan to be making a lot of use of it over the forthcoming years.

Well Done!
I'm not cancelling the DD's 'just' yet i'm going to do it in the next couple of days, i figure the sooner they realise the DD is cancelled the sooner they will start calling! CCCS told me not to pay any loans or CC's just token payments as you cannot be seen to be preferring one creditor over another. CCCS will send you a form to send with your token payments so your creditors know whats going on. xDMP Support Member 254.
