Thanks iv sorted it now, i emailed them, they will allow me up to £640 a month for housekeeping and im like you only spend approx £70 a week thanks to my dear friends on old style board who taught me how to shop!!
So rest will go in xmas/b/day & emergency fund.
Oh its like starting all over again, but without the worry:T :T as i know how it all works, just unsure on what payplan allowed expenditure wise., cant wait to be free of the fee grabing company!!Proud to be DEBT FREE AT LAST0 -
Morning everyone, well i'm still a little anxious as to whether we are making the right decision going on a DMP, i'm concerned about the phone calls, our credit rating our mortgage when we want to move house etc...but i know we really need to get these debts under control.
I had quite a productive day yesterday i worked out our budgets as best as i can for Feb, March and April allowing two months of token payments while i get all my paperwork in order and then April as out first month of DMP and to be honest we're going to be more ok than we have been before, we can get together a bit of an emergency fund and put some money towards our holiday savings (holiday already paid for so not going to cancel).
I have budgeted each month for food and petrol at higher amounts than i know we will need, i have budgeted a saving/holiday amount of £50 each month and also a car fund amount of £50 each month which means at the end of May we WILL be paying for our car tax cash and not credit card:-).
I have also found a means of clearing my Nationwide C/C and O/D before the plan starts so thats two less debts to include and means i can keep my flex account, so i set about opening a further online savings account linked to my flex so that i can transfer to seperate accounts for savings / holiday and car fund.
We've also had confirmation through the post this morning that both mine and hubbys applications for a Lloyds TSB Classic Account have been accepted so that means we can have cheque books and Visa Debit cards. I do have a Visa debit with mu Flex account but that will really be only for emergencies now. I've also arranged to have my Child Benefit and Child Tax Credit paid into the nationwide so hopefully some of that will start to build up rather than being used all the time!!!
I guess the point of my post is that although i am still apprehensive i am more in control now than i have been in a long time ad do feel a bit more positive and hopefully can enjoy the weekend more (without spending too much).!!!

Well done msc1977.
I found i was better of with no cheque book at all, as i got into the trap of, i need to shop ect a few days before wages due in so i would write a cheque...meaning im `still living on credit` and have more days to make the wages strech out over.
But everyone is different..i just love cash only now, like this morning, need to put some gas and elec in meter and get bread ect, i had just enough left in my purse and enought to give the kids a fiver to go to local snooker hall.
Still have a £10 in bank which will be used for a few more food bits ready for pack-ups monday morning.
If i still had the cheque book i would have gone and done the `big shop` 3 days early then find im needing to go again by fri instead of monday.
Its just a case of finding out what suits you best.

Hi Donna i know where you're coming from re cheques and there was a time when i would have done that but i got bitten by the bank charges too many times and wouldnt dream of it now and to be honest i cant actually remember the last time i wrote a cheque but i do find them handy to have, especially if i need to send any postal payments. To be honest its very rare we've even had cash in the house before - rarely more than a tenner. We've havent actually decided yet if we're going to take a lump sum of cash out at the beginning of each month and thats it nothing more or if we will use debit cards.. cash will be a totally new way of life for us! ...mscDMP Support Member 254. Hi d_b_d
CCCS have been great with us to and i anticipate our plan will start on 1st April - can i ask who your 'nice' letters have been off. Its good to read what companies are being helpful and the tactics that others might be using to guage what to exepect. Hope you have a good weekend too! xxDMP Support Member 254. Naaah not daft at all. Better to ask and find out than sit and wonder
We've all been there, know what it's like with all the questions and worry
Thank you! I think I need a member number please!
OK, so another question please!
I've just received my initial letter from CCCS which includes the letter to copy to my creditors and signature to join the plan. It says payment is to be made to the CCCS on the 1st of each month - how do I go about this? Will they send me bank details that I can set a standing order up for?
Also, not sure what I am supposed to put as my starting date for my DMP as they are yet to receive our statements.
For our loans - should I ask the creditors to send me a settlement figure? Or do they do 'statements'?
As a side note, one of our loans took their first payment this month (loan taken out in Oct in the hope it would mean we could afford to live, but it didn't work). They have taken the payment for the loan insurance that I cancelled within the 30 day cooling off period, which has now taken us over our overdraft limit and incurred us more charges.
I know doing the DMP is the right thing for us but it all seems so up in the air at the moment - lots to arrange before we know where we're at. New bank accounts, statements (normally try to avoid looking at those!). I'm looking forward to a time I have no worry (or a lot less!)Proud to be dealing with our debts!:jDMP Mutual Support member 269LBM Jan 2009DMP with CCCS 1st May 2009DFD - who knows, but one day! :beer:0 -

Hi - Someone already set up with CCCS will correct me if i'm wrong but the way i have understood it is that you send the form off to your creditors (with token payments) and send all the info back to CCCS at the same time, when CCCS have received it they then send you a welcome pack (which i assume has details about your first payment) and also set up your online account. They have adv me that if i get all our info returned to them by 10th Feb first payment will be due on 1st March, after this date (which is more likely for us by the time upto date statements have arrived) it will be 1st April. They have advised me to send token £1-£5 payments for feb and march (but this does give us 2 months to build up some emergency money). I will put April on my notifications and then if it is any sooner thats a bonus for the creditors. The only benefit i can see of putting it any later is if you need to build up any bigger emergency fund? I personally wouldnt put it for March unless you're certain you can get all your recent statements together and copied and with CCCS before 10th Feb.
As for loans i have just printed my most upto date on line acc's from them and i will then let CCCS sort out the exact figure, essentially it wont be settlement as you'll be paying it over a longer period not early.
Could you try and claim indemnity on your loan payment as the amount taken is not the amount notified ie you were told it would be without insurance and it wasnt? Just a thought???
Hope this helps......and to anyone reading that can help can i get a number too??;)
