Thanks Donna - i did think about doing this as loan not due till 3rd but what do i do about other dd's that should go out on the same day like C/Tax and water etc? Surely natwest will want their money before they let me pay anything else?
I have just checked my DD's on line and it is actually set up as a DD so in theory i could cancel that at the end of Jan and all other payments (not creditors) should be gone out by 3rd and 4th and the rest i transfer to my new acc or just take out as cash (if not before this date)....is that right?
i'm pleased to ready your Nartwest comments as they have been good with us on the past but even they cant get us out of this one!!! Oh and well done on your wait loss, hopefully being financially more focused might help stop the comfort eating:-)!!!DMP Support Member 254. Cancel them now
Sothey wont go out same day, and you have time to get money out.
I know with my new account i can cancel same day as the money is taken, it just re apppears in account at end of day.
They cant take a penny till the due date, so it thats the 3rd or 4th you have time to get money out, they wont know until 3rd or 4th that money not there!!
Sounds bad, but this is when you take control and the creditors no longer call the shots!!
They always want us to play by their rules,,well dmp means YOUR RULES, they either like it or lump it, cause they wont get any more than you can afford!!

You will start to enjoy family life again, my oldest 3 kids understood the mess we were in as we were very open about our debts, as i never want my kids to go through this, they have been wonderfull and understand the differnce between wanting and needing something.
The dmp has allowed me to bring in a reward system for them where they work together to achive family treats which they pick at the start of each challange...the latest one being a trip to the bowling alley with tea at the local pub after!
I now have the money to be able to offer them these treats which i never had before.
Life is so much better
Tea at the pub? its been a long time since we ever did that and even then i think i was making sure i had the cheapest thing on the menu. i really hope that our creditors go easy and that we wont have problems when our mortgage fixed rate ends in a couple of years time...but hopefully by then we'll be halfway through this!!DMP Support Member 254. Hey dont thank me!!! I care because i know what you are going through, iv been there, and i KNOW THINGS GET BETTER!!
If i can help just 1 person thats all that matters, i wish i had this support group when i got started on the dmp, but as it is i went it alone (well hubby was involved !!lol) then found this fantstic site, and have never looked back, it has helped me claim over 1500 £££ bank charges back, shop for only £65 a week for 6 of us and made my life some much easyier, iv even met up with some of the fantstic people on the old style board...iv made some lifelong friends.
Im here when ever u need me.

You have defo helped me - and for that I will be forever grateful - the OS board is great they have got so many good ideas and receipes its fascinating just reading what meals they can come up with - with just basic ingredients - certainly opened my eyes.
£65 per week for 6 is fantastic - wow thats something I have to start getting to grips with - my first shop for the new year was good I will have to add up what I have spent so far on shopping. I have started a spending diary using windows calendar and its funny but since starting it - I am defo watching what I spend - asking myself do I need it - or just want it - If I need it I buy it - If I want it I dont buy it :rotfl:
The last week has been a challenge for me as I am so used to browsing through the bargain buys thread on MSE forum and shopping online for bargains in the catalogues ie littlewoods - this time last year I had already purchased everyones xmas pressie for 2008. 2009 is going to be different - I am putting £1 away every day into a pot so by xmas I will have over £300 and that is going to be my budget for christmas pressies and hopefully I will have a bit left over to go towards christmas food shopping.
Off to bed shortly - sleeping loads better since deciding to do a DMP
bye for now

Only probs I've had with Electron card is through buying a train ticket. No dramas really, just find a cash machine!
I also believe the pay at pump petrol stations can be a problem in that they don't accept Electron.DMP mutual support thread No: 2430 -
We aew just in the process of setting up out DMP - debt remedy only completed yesterday.
I have my main accs with natwest which will be closed, but i also have a flex account on a reducing overdraft with nationwide and a credit card. The credit card has about £1000 on it and the overdraft £460, i'm wondering if i should exclude these from my DMP and clear the credit card with what i'm saving at the end of the month from just making 'token' payments and then at the end of feb i can arrrange for my wages to go into the flex account which will bring it out of the overdraft and allow me to use it as my main current account....is this something i can do or is it pie in the sky to try and keep my flex account? thanksDMP Support Member 254. I would ask you dmp company for advise on this one..but what i will tell you that when i first started, i left out 2 creditors as thought as you thinking that i would be able to manage to clear these myself...it didnt work 3 months in a added them to my dmp as your finacial statment is what you can afford and i found i just couldnt keep up the payments on the ones id left out , as it took my a while to living on cash only again and learning to live on what i had.
Speak with you dmp company and see what that suggest.

hi everyone, well had my phone meeting with payplan last night, lasted an hour but it was the best hour on the phone i have had in a long time! I haven't felt so releived in ages! I am going onto a DMP £33000 of debt. Paying £500 per month starting on 1st March. The lady i spoke to was so lovely which was great. She said that providing most of the companies freeze the interest and charges we should be clear in around 5 years give or take. I will get another call in a couple of days from my new case worker and they will send me all the info etc. Just opened a basic account this morning for myself and my husband and got accepted for that already just got to wait for the form in the post and send them back, so i feel like i have made a huge amount of difference already. The next step is to send off my token payments to everyone with a letter fingers crossed for that. And even before the phone calls start i am going to change our home telephone number! Only downfall is that capital one and vanquis have some how got my work number that they come through on occasionally although i swear i didn't give it to them! I reakon they did some researching on the internet and found it! Its local goverment so it wouldn't be hard! Anyway god didn't realise i had written so much, but i am bursting with relief!
The info on here i have found really helpful so i would like to say thanks to everyone!
