I would guess that your friend has either CCA'd those companies & had nothing back meaning they have defaulted & he is refusing to pay them or he doesn't understand what a default notice is.
If it happens to be the latter then that friend will find themselves in court eventually & probably owing a lot more than they do now. You should try & talk them through it a bit to see how much knowledge they have as you don't want them getting deeper into problems if it can be avoided.:j DMP mutual support thread member - 135:j0 -
Just having a quick look around the site and I'm not really sure what letter to send to MBNA. The one suggested on the 'CCA Requests' thread is a National Debtline letter with which I need to enclose £1. Is this the correct letter as it will give me (if MBNA have it!) my original CCA and list of any charges incurred. Is this the right one or is it the other one (which I can't find the template for) with which I need to enclose £10?

Hi new on the thread, have been reading this thread for the last few days and going to start a DMP shortly, have organised new bank accounts, changing home phone number and so on.You say above that you have had exprience with the fee paying companys, would you say that these take more of the flack form people u owe the cash too as you are paying them to do so? Myself and partner was going to start one with a fee paying firm for the first 6-12 months, until we know what we are doing them maybe go to CCCS/payplan...
Thanking u in adavance for your comments

Hi Jay,
Don't go with a fee paying one, its totally pointless and they will do nothing for you that the free CCCS/Payplan can't do, apart from take your money.0 -

Hmm. I suppose you could always mention the charges in any negoiations with them. Tell them you would eventually be able to reclaim them back, so deduct them from the alledged amount owed and then offer from there. Start with 50% of the total minus charges. They can only say no.
Never accept their first offer, they'll always go lower, especially a DCA.
Well, I can confirm that KPR are an internal department of Nationwide.
They didn't like the fact that I've doubled my payments from £1.12 to £3.54 on a £400 debt (now £500) and they offered a discount of £370! Woopdeedoo.
So I can't pay that. Only concern is that Nationwide is who my mortgage is with...DMP mutual support thread No: 2430 -

Hi ianmak,
I've had dealings with KPR as well. I owed Nationwide £750 for an overdraft & they offered me a settlement of £550. I rejected it & they subsequently sent my account to Fredrickson's who immediately accepted the £5 monthly payment from CCCS. They recently offered me a settlement of £450 but I couldn't afford that either in one lump sum. I'm also waiting for this bank reclaim stay to be lifted as I have a claim against Nationwide ongoing for over £900.:j DMP mutual support thread member - 135:j0 -
Thanks Geoff. They're the only creditor who haven't really acknowledged the payments or my DMP. Interesting to see what happens now... Frustrating as I'm paying interest on my fixed mortgage of 6.5% so they're getting an awful lot of money from me at the moment!DMP mutual support thread No: 2430

Thanks geoff... wanted a SAR letter for OH as his ex went on an IVA which was meant to contribute towards their joint loan (but apparently now won't) and we're hoping for a bit of information
Here's hoping they let on more than they shouldworking on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
Jaybag.
Dont go with the fee paying firm i went with one and stayed for just under 3 years , i have only just swapped over and wished i had done it months ago.
I have paid over 2.5k in fees which could have gone off my debts.
They do the same as payplan are doing for me now...the only different is the crediotrs are overly happy as are getting more money each month.
Stick to the free dmps.
