We didnt have to show bank statements at the beginning or at the 6 month review so I dont think they would ask for them after a year (would they?!!) - no, I dont think they would ask but I guess it's best being on the safe side.
You dont need to see a doctor - no, no, no ... you just need more people to buy you vouchers/gift cards :rotfl: - chance would be a fine thing, wouldnt it!

I find the hardest thing on a DMP is making excuses to family and friends as to why you can't do things - only myself and DH know about the DMP and so it is babysitting issues, car service needed, too busy etc etc- i reckon some of them have realised we are skint but don't realise quite how much!! Jan 2008-Paid 74% of debt as of MAR 2012 (DFD - APR 2014) DMP Support Thread Member 154  DFW Long Hauler 116:grin: Official DFW Nerd Club 928- Proud to be dealing with my debts :grin:0 -
sunshine38 wrote: »2spicy - great news on the reduced overall balance already - that's a good start. Are you doing a self administered DMP or are you with one of the charities? Just a thought on your payments that you are going to make in the meantime (until your plan is up and running) - I was advised that either token payments of £1 or £5 would be acceptable. If you pay more than those minimums and subsequently try to negotiate payments lower than, say, £25 (if that's what you will pay each of them for token payments) then you could hit some problems. Of course, I dont know what your income and proposed payments to creditors overall would be and if you dont anticipate any of the payments needing to be less that £25 to any of your creditors, then there would be no problem - I think! Anyway, it's just something that popped into my head when I was reading your post. If you can manage with payments of £25 or more in your circumstances, then that's great and a time frame of 3-4 years is not too far off to get it all sorted. I hope that makes sense

Cheers Sunshine.
Were quite new on here, but after doing a few months of lurking and homework, we have elected to go with PayPlan.
Regarding our elected "token" payments to creditors, we've put some figures below to represent our household income / expenditure. Unless we loose one household salary in the next 18 months, we should be ok. Even with the loss of a salary, the HP on the cars could be defaulted and the cars "collected" by the finance companys (although we would like to keep them if we can !)
Household income is currently in the region of £4200pm after deductions, and it pains us to actually be in this situation in the first place .. but as people have said, bigger income... bigger debts.
Our minimum payments for all the credit cards is between £70 and £190 per month. our Loans are between £230 for Barclay Loan, and £460 for MBNA.
We have been making these mayments without difficulty for as long as we have signed up for the debt.
Aside from a £1200pm Mortgage, £900pm Childcare and a combined figure of £600pm, the rest of our salaries go for food, clothes and our debts.
As you can see from the above figures, were not in financial difficulties just yet, and have managed to keep our heads above water for the last few months. but, the writing is on the wall, and, given the state of the economy / fuel prices, the spiralling costs of everything, we can see a point in the not too distant future when we will be in trouble. So, by our actions now we hope to nip it in the bud, the Mortgage can go on standard variable for the next few years as with the low interest rates, the repayments have become quite manageable.
Our Childcare costs should reduce by 80% in 18 months time when our child goes to school full time.
The DMP figures were calculated using the original November08 data. Now we have started to hack away at the debt, we hope to be in a position to supliment the DMP payments with the occasional "lump" using money that was previously allocated to paid off debts.
Anyway, we have a load of christmas alcohol should we need to forget our sorrows, now doubt we'll need to seek the vast knowledge base on this forum from time to time.

I asked if signed for was guaranteed the next day and he said 'well mmm errr' what a rip off!! Anyone else think this? I thought first class 36p was next day delivery but to try and get you to pay £4 odd is robbery especially if you have more than one letter.
Fingers crossed all the letters I have sent for £1.08 are getting to their destination ok.
If you want proof of postage, but donot want to pay for signed or special delivery, you can hand your first class letter to the post office and ask for a reciept.
This is acceptable for the CPS who send out fines and court summons using the royal mail, and they state that not recieving a letter is not acceptable as long as it has been posted.
So, keep yoru special deliverys, take the letter and ask for the postoffice person to supply a reciept of postage ( at no cost to you). this will include the address it was sent to, the signature and postal stamp.
That is admissable as evidence in court ( well, the courts accept this when sending responses to speeding NIP's )LBM - Oct - 08 DMP Started - Feb -09

Hi
Need some advice please!
Am on a dmp with debts around £23k (not including charges since lbm!).
HSBC are my biggest creditor with a loan, a mastarcard (which now is with a dca) and a small overdrafts(£200).
Have received this morning a letter saying.
" We demand imediate payment of £9606 made up as follows:
PLN account 8892.92
advance a/c charges on acoount **** 551.95
advance charges on a/c 8888 194.80
We may make further demands for repayment for other money or liabilities which are now, or may become owing to the bank.
As a defaulting debtor, detailsof your default inc name & address may be given to Credit Ref Agencies if we do not get a satisfactory response withing 28 days".
Yada Yada.
They have also included a Statement of Means for us to fill jn and sign which has a box that states:
"We agree to repay this debt at £_____ weekly/monthly.
This first repayment ill be made on___________.
Signed and Dated ______________________"
Right - I have no intention of signing that - is that right?
I have made dmp payments since October but did not pay in Deceber (CCCS aware - no car and we need or we dont work but onemonth off manage to buy us a £200 car thank goodness!).
Am guessing that the best thing is to not fill in the SoM but get CCCS to send another copy of I/Exp etc out?
What are they likely to do now? This one has me very worried for some reason as it seems to be a different tone to usual. They are my biggest creditor by far and havent een the nicest people to deal with.
Any advice on what to do much appreciated.MSE-ing since 20070 -

Anyone who has any experience of moving from a fee charging DMP to CCCS or PayPlan?
Help would probably be helpful here: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1388563

I think the receipt you actually get is called Proof of Posting isn't it? I use it for eBay...
And first class says delivery is for next working day, so that must be true.

Has anyone else been contacted by Capital One saying that they haven't received a payment by standing order?
Call me a cynic but I suspect that they are fishing for an extra payment. No longer using this account for new posts from 20130 -

I think you should give them a token payment every month until the DMP has been setup. It shows that you're a willing payer, just can't afford to pay the full amount, hence, token payments.DMP mutual support thread No: 2430
