Well things seem to be moving at last. Just had a phone call in response to my email. The lady I spoke to has been reading our comments on here! Hi Tracy! She is going to make sure my order is being picked today for despatch and if there is a problem I can cancel. Would prefer to get the books though or I have got to start all over again.

She said the problems have been caused by not enough staff to cope with the success of site.

Watch this space!

I'm getting really fed up with them, ordered on 28th jan - del stated 3-5 days (which has now been changed to 7-10) - phoned on weds as order still showing just received - told it would be despatched by end of the wk, just phoned again to be told not despatched, said I needed 3 of the books for thursday she said it is highly unlikely that would happen, they would need to leave their monday to get here for thurs and they have too big a backlog, told them that if they use HDNL as I was advised surely it had til wednesday to leave and she said they don't do a next day delivery with HDNL. - Asked what would happen about the 3 books if they are not here on time (the rest don't matter but 2 of these are for valentines for the kids and the other is a box set I have ordered as a thank you to my son's playgroup as he leaves there next friday) and she said I could ring and they would collect them. Advised that should they arrive at the end of next week, they would have had my money for 3 weeks, she said nothing. Asked why if they were part of book people they couldn't deliver in time like they do (I ordered from them last fri,rec'd tues), again she said nothing - told her I would ring on Tuesday to see if they had left and also told her that it would give book people a bad name if they continue business like this too.
Until they sort themselves out this will be the only order I place with them which is a shame as both me and the kids love books and I spend @ £40-£50 a month with the book people alone.

UPDATE - just had email stating order has been shipped which I find a bit odd as earlier it had no chance of being sent out by tuesday even - maybe though Tracy read my post (the start of this post is what i posted on the other thread as I coulnd't find this one!) - all being well I should get the books I need in plenty of time.x

I ordered 29th Jan, and wasn't thinking it was too unusual that I hadn't got my books yet, but after reading this thread I am a bit worried as I need some of the books quite soon for gifts. Have just checked my account and saying order received.........

Pamela - give them a ring on monday - it seems there is someone from there checking this board though they won't be able to identify clients by user ids, but it seems if you ring them the orders are getting put through - i was told on the phone today mine would not be here by next thurs as it wouldn't be processed by tuesday yet an hr later i had shipped email.

This will teach me for not reading an entire thread. I've always had great service from the book people so didn't think twice about placing an order for 28.00 earlier this evening when I saw this thread. I didn't realise that the back part was full of complaints until now

Oh well, fingers crossed
