Why do you vehemetly defend and argue against us then? The only reason why someone would do that if they had a vested interest in something0

i don't think these doomers have a penny to rub together and will never be in a position to buy (not that they should, up to them really).
it's the online persona that they have created to make them feel wanted.
the internet has given some very socially weak people a platform.

Says it all really... at the point you have nothing good to argue you try to tarnish a persons character.. didn't work.
As they say time will tell, if you feeling miffed that i made a financial decision to not laden myself, my wife and my future family with unneccessary debt then thats a weird outlook.

Carol, do you realise it's that very opinion which keeps us from being a "3 party state"? In the same way that every single person who bought a house during the boom is partly responsible for the bust, everybody who thought "I'll vote Labour because the Lib Dems will never get in" is partly responsible for the mess the government has made of this country.
Very true.
Unfortunately, where I live, the Lib Dems don't even put up a candidate, which makes it kind of hard to vote for them.
I do agree with your general point.
Unfortunately, the Lib Dems fail to capitalise on their strongest asset - Vince - and have someone in charge about whom I know nothing - may be a lovely man but I know nothing more about him than his name.
Great shame that as we face some of the worst economic conditions we've ever seen, the govt.s political opponents are failing to make capital of this. And I say this as someone who historically has been a staunch Labour supporter.
The fact is, even the best party needs an effective opposition - or more than 1.And this party appears to have been in power long enough to have fallen prey to the dictum that 'power corrupts; absolute power corrupts absolutely'.

Its your opinion but I disagree. You're implying that wherever we have two salaries in a household, the second salary is not required - merely for fun or merely for savings or what? The reason people don't move right down inside the carriage is that there's nothing to hold onto when you're in the middle.0 -

when you say "us" who do you mean? i thought that the recession was potentially affecting everyone. it's not about "them" and "us". that is a really silly thing to say.
i don't "vehemetly defend" anything - i just don't go by your predictions of 50% and 60% price drops.
vested interest - i think we all have. i'm looking also to buy early next year when the right property at the right price comes along.0 -
It shouldn't escape everyones notice here that whilst there are many winners in a falling housing market, there are also many losers.
Whilst a correction in house prices was long overdue, and should help some people onto the market, many others are going to lose out.
I was lucky to buy my house years ago and have paid my mortgage off, so frankly, it's now irrelavent to me what my house is worth. However, what about the FTB's who have stretched themselves to the limit and now find themselves in huge negative equity? If they have to move area and sell up, then they could be saddled with debt for years. It really isn't something to gloat about, especially, as I would like to think, that the MSE forums are a mutually supportive network.
I was in my local last night and so many of the old faces are missing, simply because they worked in the building trade and are now unable to find work. Many of them were struggling to pay mortgages and raise kids before the downturn.
Watching others suffer and struggle is not pleasant, especially at this time of year. Let's hope for everyones sake, we can reach some level of stability soon.Nothing is foolproof, as fools are so ingenious!0 -

lol - you've gone back to [strike]troll[/strike] trawl through historic posts to pull up one post from a thread. well done but very, very sad...
it's actually very good description of many HPCers that come on here and try to be smug about oher people when they have nothing themselves. you'll also find that the people that will thank your effort of [strike]trolling[/strike] trawling are more than likely part of that doom clan and don't like that description of themselves.
ps - borrowed this bit from someone else "[strike]troll[/strike] trawl"0
