You MoneySavers types certainly know how to keep a thread going I'll give you that. And after the Vultures effort - what's next? Slimeballs or Scumbags maybe? Heaven forbid that it be anything to do with House Prices, Economy or Recession - funny what gets moderated and what doesn't in this forum.

Don't forget to run to teacher if you need any help.
  • I simply will not be bullied because you for some reason have decided that you don't like my views.

You wern't being bullied. In terms of HPC/Recession/Economy my posts are in broad agreement with yours. I will take issue with my posts being described as:
'....purely driven by the insecurity of your own financial plight'.
when you have absolutely no knowledge of my current financial position.

Lets stick to the topic and let people read our views and contribute their own.

Wholeheartedly agree with this and I will continue in that vein.

I don't know where you get your information from but construction workers are unemployed here in the South East and it is probably going that way in the rest of the country.

Probably me being thick, but is he a plumber or a gas engineer? Or both?

Where in the SE are you based?
...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.

I am wrong to assume that you are a house owner...just a hunch!
Sorry if I was wrong on that one.
  • I can undersatnd that people who have been waiting to buy for years and at last may be able to afford to do so may be a little excited at the prospect.

Is he aware of tradespeople, when the going was good, being asked to quote for a small job. They pick a crazy price and know that they have more work if they don't get the job. If the cuctomer says yes then they are quids in.
I know an electrician and a builder who have done this. They didn;t need the work so just came up with a crazy price and some people took it, others didn't.

Of course that sort of scenario was typical of many sectors, not just trades people. Estate agents on commission seeing HPI fatten their paychecks for no additional work, property 'flippers' et al. It was binge time and now the morning after is here. It is unfortunate for those that didn't go to the party are still going to suffer the hangover.

Hopefully when heads are clear there will be a return to sensible sustainable growth but we are a long way from that yet.

  • I'm not sure that everyone who wasn't at the party will suffer the hangover.
Some of us are bright eyed, bushy tailed and waiting to buy a reasonably priced house and have a teeny weeny mortgage.
Sounds more like a squirrel than a vulture..
That's it, no longer a vulture, now a squirrel...

Just make sure you protect your nuts.
  • So maybe we can draw this jolly exciting thread to a close?

Vultures or squirrels are hoping that the house prices return to an affordable level.
House owners are hoping they are not going to slip below the amount of their mortgage.
We all hope that the new year is going to see a prompt recovery in all other areas of finance and that unemployment is low.

We can all agree on that much surely....it's just the detail and our personal perspectives that differ.

Hear hear and we can now get our leaks fixed for £50 and not £200!
