Hurray for new flatmate / catmate ,

I'm really pleased for you. I really wasnt that keen on getting ours, it was mainly for DD as I had real commitment & responsiblity issues :o now I love him to bits. There's nothing like having something warm & furry to cuddle that doesnt answer back or make you feel crap :D.

You too can discover the joys of typing with a tail in your face :rotfl:

As to counselling, I'd say give it ago, you dont have to continue if you dont like it. Part of your unsettled state is probably knowing that Mr. F F is going, but having to hang around in a kind of limbo until he does. You know that there is a big change coming but cant actually deal with it yet .

Big hugs to you & remember that you are F Fabulous :A

    xx

PS - I love TK Maxx, I decided that if I was only allwed to shop in one store for the rest of my life, it would be there; I love the eclectic & totally random stuff in there & all those bargainous finds too. I must go there soon ...

Oooh thanks for the Hills science tip - that's what my kitty has - got fed it at cat home & has to be kept on it for a while & then weaned off it very slowly. There is no MSE for cats apparently ;)

Noah is going to be an MSE furbaby, but to me that means getting value for money not cheap junk food! :T

I've spoken to Noah's lovely foster mum this evening; he has recently switched to James Wellbeloved dry as it's hypoallergenic along with Felix pouches. I don't think I can cope with buying Felix, it's only 4% meat with a ton of additives and is a Nestle brand. I prefer Pets at Home Purely tinned meat which contains 50% fish, no rubbish and £2.75 per kilo. :money: Apparently he also likes prawns ...

  • 4% meat !? What does anybody buy it then, sounds quite boggin whats the other 96% ?

It's very interesting which pet food manufacturers will list the ingredients on their websites - none of the commercial brand names do! People buy this rubbish because it's easy to buy pet food when you are grocery shopping anyway, because the products are advertised as being healthy and because people don't read labels. I am ashamed to say I am guilty of this in my youth. :o

Felix pouches, taken from the Ocado website:
"Meat and animal derivatives (of which beef 4%, chicken 4%, duck 4%, lamb 4%, rabbit 4%, liver 4%), fish and fish derivatives, minerals, various sugars."
Note that the 4% meat is OR for each type of meat depending on the flavour. What they haven't listed with the pouches is that they contain a lot of water.

Whiskas Complete dry, also from Ocado:
"Cereals, Meat and Animal Derivatives (min 4% Chicken in the Light Brown Kibbles, min 4% Meat in the Meaty Nuggets Filling), Vegetable Protein Extracts, Oils and Fats, Derivatives of Vegetable Origin, Minerals, Vegetables (min 4% Carrots in the Orange Kibbles, min 4% Peas in the Green Kibbles)."

The lowest price for a complete dry food appears to be around £1 per kilogram (supermarket own brand), but you are paying for cereals which is usually corn or wheat as they are cheap. I think it's better value to pay £4 to £6 a kilo and get a premium dry food - these start at 20% up to 80% meat: some are organic, some are free range, some contain human grade meat. :T
