i think its been suggested further up, but try snipping the "led enable" link in one of your pir's.
and, not sure if its been mentioned allready, but engineer code for veritas 8 is 1234 unless its been changed
i think;- older units, 1234 then 00
newer units 1234 then prog.
now you can remove lids.
hope this helps. Please note, we've had to remove your signature because it was sh*te!0 -
Can I replace the PIR as a DIY job?
They are under £10 on Ebay.0 -
These sensors are renown for making the noise you describe. They are old and were very cheap when they were new, around the £1.50 mark if I remember right. I only ever fitted one set and threw the rest away because of the noise. You can replace them yourself easily, just make sure power is off both 12volt and the 240volt. Hope all goes well.0

Merry Christmas everybody.
Should I not replace with the same make/model of PIR then?
What model would you recommend?0 -
Financial_Savvy wrote: »Hi, I have had another look. I have removed the sensitivity jumper and in all possible options it still make the same noise.
I have disconnected the red wire (in block #1) and when it is removed it stops the PIR from working, but as soon as it is back it makes the same noise when the LED comes on.
Few things I have noticed.
1. Some PIR's make the noise more (louder) than others.
2. When I disconnected the red cable when I was putting it back, as the small wire would connect it would make the same chirping noise. If you held the cable on the outside of the block but on the metal part it would make the chirp noise almost constantly.
The cabling sequence looks like this
1. Red
2. Black
3. Blue
4. Yellow
5. Green
6. White
On one PIR the white and green cable were both in #5. I have the pic if you want this.
Not that I have a clue but it does seem like when the relay detects movement this makes the chirp noise.
I have found some more sensors on Ebay. Can these be replaced as a DIY job?
Thanks to all and Merry Christmas.
The two cables in the same hole are for the tamper switch, this means there might have been a problem with that pir so the tamper is linked out,the pir would still work if the lid was off.
Any decent pirs will do,try your local Gardiner technology store, about £20 for a decent one,not worth putting cheap ones in as they go off more, these are any easyswap, just take one wire out at a time and cut the bare end off so not to short out the cables.
Give us a shout if you need any more help.
Happy Christmas.

Hi all
I have bought 1 PIR sensor of Ebay to install as a test.
Is the cabling sequence
1. Red
2. Black
3. Blue
4. Yellow
5. Green
6. White
Do I just turn off the power at the consumer unit and then take the lid off and put the alarm code to shut it up, and then fit the new sensor, taking out one cable at a time?
Thanks0 -
This isn't helpful advice really just wanted to say that we moved into our house 2 yrs ago in May and we have a Veritas alarm fitted too. All our PIR's chirp when they detect movement and to start with this really annoyed me but now it doesn't even register with me.
Hubby couldn't turn off the chirp as we don't know the engineers code and at the time we couldn't afford a new control unit. As I said, now we are used it it doesn't even register with us.:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -
Was it a loud chirp and did the noise come from the PIR or alarm box.
It may be that you have chime turned on. You can turn this off by pressing the picture of the music note on the alarm box.0 -

Yes the chirp comes from the PIR itself and its not very loud at all if I listen to it now but when we first moved in it seemed loud because we wasn't used to it.
We have already turned the chime off on the alarm box as that was quite loud and irritating
Thanks though.:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0
