Do TalkTalk sales tell porkies?

I was contacted today by talktalk sales. I told them that my current line speed peaks at about 1.1 Mbits due to distance from exchange. TalkTalk stated that if I swopped then I would get 8Mbits, which as far as I am aware is unobtainable on my line. Are these TalkTalk porkies?

don't go there trust me .... i am on with their braodband ands it is pathetic ! the line keep dropping, impossible to download pages from wikipedia and many other site etc.....
their customer services are awfull and be prepared to wait for ages over the phone before someone answered to you . sometimes they even hang up on you ( especially when you don't understand them !)
Talk Talk will tell you anything over the phone to get you on and then when you complained they will say oh no we have say this and this .....( see my thread). be careful and wary of themBSC number 1830 -
If you read the small print it says"up to" Which means anything less than the quoted figure. This is an open forum, anyone can post and I just did !0

Hi,
A friend of mine was told she would get FREE boradband if she switched to Talk Talk. Guess what..........? she pays line rental AND her broadband costs her an extra £15 per month! When she asked why she as being charged £15 per month for broadband they denied she was offered it for free and have told her that if she leaves before her contract ends she will have to pay £100+ in penalties0 -
Hi Guys,
As I am sure you are aware broadband speed is subject to a large number of variables. The most significant is the length of your telephone line and therefore the attenuation. The TalkTalk website and many other sites will give you an estimation of line speed based on this figure but line quality, electrical interference and many other factors can affect the speed of the connection.
If anyone has problems with there line speed then you can visit https://www.talktalkmembers.com/forums and we'll be happy to look into it for you. If anyone believes they have been mis-sold we will raise a sales compliance complaint and investigate this fully. It must be the account holder we are dealing with though for obvious reasons.
Cheers

^ why resurrect a nearly dead thread? Though, I guess, it would be impossible to prove the packages were missold, so little could/would be done about it, but it's nice to see reps taking an interest.Utinam logica falsa tuam philosophiam totam suffodiant.0

Nearly dead?! The last post was only 5 days ago!!
If the account was signed up on line then all details are available to the customer thoughought the sale. If the account was signed up on the phone then we have copies of the sales calls. If anything is mis-sold then we can take steps to put this right. If any customer wants a copy of the sales calls or any other information for that matter they have the right to apply for it via a subject access request.
Cheers

5 days here is nearly dead, 5 hours without a response is forgotten but all but those that contributed, there is a fast turnover
I'm pretty sure there are some slammed threads from a couple of weeks ago, or maybe you're working back to them?!
Any girl avatars for TT staff? the one you have doesn't quite fit with your name...or maybe it does?!Utinam logica falsa tuam philosophiam totam suffodiant.0 -
I`ve been with TT since 3rd April 08 and my speed averages 6.2 megs.
It`s the best move I ever made and I`m completely happy with everything provided for the £16-39 a month I pay.
which is half the cost I was paying before switching.
I get BB,line rental included, free evening and weekend calls plus free calls anytime to 36 countries.
It`s a no-brainer.0
