Morrisons 'con'?

Have been saving my shopping receipts for the last 4 weeks to claim a £20 shopping voucher for Christmas. On each of my debit card receipts it is headed Week 1,2,3,or 4 £20 off christmas shop and this made me assume that it was these receipts they wanted. When I read the tiniest small print on the back of the savings card today it says that only itemized good receipts will be accepted. Now I know that the letter of the law makes them able to refuse my application but I did manage to find weeks 2 to 4 itemized receipts so I had 3 acceptable receipts and four proofs of money spent for 4 weeks but they quite rudely told me my application was unacceptable and they would not give me my voucher. Is that good customer service? I am annoyed with myself for being to busy to read the small print before but I also think they have made it easy to misinterpret their rules and I will never shop there again though I know they couldn't care less about losing my custom. Thanks for listening to my rant I just wondered if anyone else has been caught out.

How annoying for you. I hadn't noticed this either, but have kept the itemised receipts but not the card receipts.Married 5th June 20101st Baby born 12th April 2011:j0

My guess would be that the offer is only valid for food/household items and not petrol, therefore by only keeping the card receipt you can not prove what the money was spent on.0

the receipts would say morrisons/morrisons petrol I think. should be easily identifiable by either that or the store ref number by the purchase on the bank statement.
can you buy the 5th week shopping and use that to make up the 4 weeks?Remember the time he ate my goldfish? And you lied and said I never had goldfish. Then why did I have the bowl Bart? Why did I have the bowl?0 -

The offer excluded several things (cigarettes and other kiosk stuff, savings stamps etc). That part was made quite clear. I didn't read the small print but knowing there were exclusions I kept the itemised receipts too.
OP - if you go to Customer Services and say you're sorry, you realised too late, you shop there every week, hopefully you can have the voucher anyway.0 -
I can see why they would only accept the itemised recipt and not the debit card receipt, as if they accepted either/or, someone could quite easily attempt to put 2 claims in. One claim using their 4 itemised recipts and another claim using 4 card receipts.
I can also see why it would have to be itemised receipts, as you may have only got a £20 shop, but then £20 cash back, thus making the card receipt for £40.0 -

Sarah, your right it's the standard exclusions which are on most offers by Morrisons.
My sister works at our local Morrisons and pointed out to my mam and grandma's that there is also a minimum spend to get the £20 off. I believe it is £40.0 -
The same thing happened to me today, but customer services were quite rude about it. I pointed out there was space in the leaflet were they could have put "keep your itemized receipt" but they have left out the word itemized i can only guess this is so they don't have to pay out, most people I know don't keep this part. Also what it says on the headed part of the itemized one about being week 1 etc is the same as the small receipt you get so it it easy to see why people think that would suffice as proof. The staff told me today quite a few people have done the same thing.0

i was told the reason why they want the itemised receipts is so they can look at all the collected receipts when the promotion is over and see what food stuffs are popular, etc...its a way of gathering intelligence and that .....the card part obviously doesnt have a list of items bought......i got my voucher today xx thanks morrisons...0

They don't need the receipts for that, the till would tell them what people have been buying0 -
I shop two to three times a week after work, generally at Asda. After seeing the advert on tv I collected my card, read the inside of the card which states - " To collect your voucher just spend £40 or more with us each week between the 10th November and 14th December and keepyour receipts within this card".
I collected and saved all receipts, occasionally popping back in to buy something I didnt require just to top up my weekly shop to £40.00.
I have just returned from Morrisons who refused to give me my £20.00 voucher on the grounds that the £40 had to be on one receipt!..each week, the fact that some weeks I had spent £50.00 over 2/3 days didnt matter. Aparantly their have been a lot of old age pensioners who are unable to carry £40 worth of shopping at one go and tend to shop a few times a week like myself who have been refused also!
I asked where it stated this point and was shown the back of the card in very small writing, which I assume most pensioners would be unable to read anyway, section 3 "To claim your voucher collect 4 seperate receipts, each worth £40 or more, multiple receipts from the same week are not permitted"
I am really disappointed and as over the top as it may seem...I feel let down!
There are more than enough con men out there, It never crossed my mind Morrisons or any major store would do the dirty!..Many people have possibly spent more each week than usual, which means the store has made money, some people may have been relying on that £20, I know I was!
Conned yet again!0
