They also had 1 of the PDA sat navs on display so if you're interested give em a ring and they'll put it on one side for you.
Thanks for that heads up managed to pick up a PDA this morning from Chesterfield they they have one left (not on display).
Its for my Father (I already got one a couple of weeks back) so he will be well pleased.0 -
iainkirk wrote:Got a mate with a Garmin i3 - says he didn't get a Product Registration Code in the box. Is there supposed to be one (other than the 8 digit serial number on the battery cover and top of box lid)?
If so, where is it in the box?
Go into "Settings" "About" this will show you your software version and a registration code.0 -

Ha! I did read on the pocketgps forum that not any old AA battery will do - you have to use 1600 ones or something like that or the unit keeps switching off..0 -

The handbook on my i3 says you have to use at least 2300mh and you get upto 6 hours use out of them0 -

Hi,
I have a PDA spare (due to a very indecisive friend of a friend). I am happy to let it go for cost plus postage to a fellow MSE'er, so if anyone wants it Pm me0 -

Was the unit set for the correct battery type?
Either "dry" or "Ni-Mh", the main difference being (apart from one set being rechargeable) that the voltage is lower on the Ni-Mh (1.2v per cell) thus the unit could be fooled into thinking the batts were low as it is looking for a different voltage?
All sat-navs/pdas are heavy on batts due to the colour screens & constantly hunting for the sat signal. Heavy duty rechargeables (2000mA & higher) are the only cost effective way to run these units.
The inital £15-20 layout will be recovered in days0
