Noticed that PCWORLD have just changed their price for Garmin I3 on the website to £99.97 see link
    http://www.pcworld.co.uk/product.php?sku=709717
however not in stock to order on line - maybe they have them in stores for this price
note this is an excellent satnav and if you can get one for £100 this is remarkable value
Dixons have now also changed their price for the Garmin I3 to £99.97

I'd be very interested to hear if any of this group have them in stock at this price.

I don't seem to be able to load the speed camera database and the other POI files. It appears that when I try to add both the first lot disappear. Any suggestions how I can load both?

    Hope this helps.
Do I want it? ......Do I need it? ......What would happen if I don't buy it??????
  • There's a small problem with the single folder Garmin bmps. The gatso and mobile camera icons won't show up properly. To solve the problem, swap the bmps with similar bmps in the "alternative bitmaps" folder and make sure the names are the same as the ones you are replacing, so they link up with the corresponding .csv files. Make sure you get .bmp files that are 382 bytes in size, as the current 150 bytes are too small for the Garmin to display.

    pocketgps_uk_gatso.bmp
    pocketgps_uk_mobile.bmp

Also, if you want the continental cameras, you can add this file from the csv folder in single file versions to the garmin folder. It will then load up on the garmin. The garmin has some very basic north western european maps. If you decide to do this, don't forget to grab a bmp from the alternative bmp folder, drop it into the garmin folder and call it pocketgps_continental.bmp

    You'll get a nice pic, then. :D

funny thing is if you search for Garmin through the PCworld and Dixons website it does not come up with the Garmin I3.
I can only find these with the product links provided.

Symptomatic of product discontinuation then... and also the 97p part of the price would seem to indicate the same.

But why would they discount such a fantastic product - is it affecting the sales of the more expensive stuff?

Only a problem if they have loads - but not if they only have the odd one... I bought mine from PCworld who had one left after being sent there from Dixons (two local stores had none).

Yes, please look at this thread http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=137520

You have to install the POI Warner . . . quite simple install and you get all the warning etc.

    regards,
    Rajeev

Thanks for the info. Don't suppose there is a freebie download anywhere (as in the case of the Garmin)
