Cloud cover does effect the satellite signal, give it time and it should work.

    Hi,
I have just bought a garmin i3, but i can't seem to get a signal.I keep getting a "locating satellites" on the screen, and a flashing question mark. I also went outside with it, but still nothing, can someone please help?

Take it outside, where there aren't any tall buildings or trees, I did mine in a car park, leave it on, dont move it and let it lock onto the satellites, it can take quite a while but once it's done it the first time, the next time you try it, it should find the satellites in a few seconds.

i have navman pda exacltly same as ones from somerfield and if there is thick cloud cover it wont pick a signal up,once you get one it will keep it until you turn it off,and its the same with my road angel, once there is a break in the clouds they both get a signal immediately

cloud cover will have an effect but u should still recieve a signal but maybe from less satellites, even in torrential storms my pda based tom tom very very rarely looses its location just picks up less satellites but still enough to function.

    Help please!

    I have the micromaxx PDA.

I have installed TomTom on it and it works fine BUT despite the fact that it does have a satellite lock and will navigate perfectly it shows that it has no satellite signal.

The 'bars' show no signal - tap on those and the bars have '0 satellites' shown below - tap on that and it shows 'No valid GPS signal!' but the display shows 8 satellites tracked with a good strength.

Any thoughts please it works but claims to have no signal - the screen even colours correctly (goes grey if no signal)??

Its just that I want the 'strength bars' to work correctly.

This is a current fault with TomTom 5.21.

I presume the might fix it eventaully!!

TomTom 5.21 will not show satellite 'lock' (blue signal bars on GPS screen) on the Mio168/Medion/Micromaxx for some reason, hence doesn't show the stignal bars on the map screen, but still works correctly (full colour map screen)
