Which is better Garmin Or Micromaxx?

Anybody have any details about the speed camera detectors @ 39.99?
For the sole puropse of navigation, the Garmin is way ahead.
the speed camera detectors are basically redundant now. you have to pay regular subscriptions and why use them when you can install an even better speed cam database (currently free) onto your i3 and use it both for navigation as well as speed cam detection. A brilliant bargain.
Do I want it? ......Do I need it? ......What would happen if I don't buy it??????

For all you PDA owners this is a neat little site offering FREE software, stuff like utils, educational and games. I have installed some good stuff on my MicroMaxx, works well too.

speed camera detector is a GPS unit which has the speed camera database built into it...basically it will let you know when speed cameras are near..you update it if I'm not mistaken by subscription.

For info, most mapping software is pretty much the same, having purchased a number of units over the last 12 month for various people I've had the opportunity to try a range of different route planners...some appear better than others, however; due to having tomtom myself prior to using the others I got used to the menu system of tomtom and therefore I do tend to lean towards tomtom.

I think people need to look at the mapping software like they do mobile phones....People will purchase a particular make mobile because of previous experience whith how to navigate the menus and then not want to use aonther make due to being unfamiliar with how menus work on them. There is little difference with mapping software, all have their positives, all have their negatives. If you have not used any mapping software before go with the one you get with the PDA...try it and then see if you can get someone with another mapping software to show you how theirs work...then make the decision wether to fork out addtional money for a different mapping software....remember this is meant to be money saving :)

Agree with Rogerramjet on this. I have tried Tomtom5 on my father-in-laws PDA and do like it, however it is IMHO no way worrth 199 euros, that is ridiculous. The software supplied with the Micromaxx is very similar to Tomtom and just as accurate, if not more so. I carried out a test last night using the two PDAs one running tomtom the other using navigator, no difference except tomtom insisted on taking me down a one way street, not a good idea me thinks!!!

Tomtom is as rogerramjet says probaby easier to configure and use, but after a couple of journeys you will soon get the hang navigator.
