Cost of Tooth Veneers

I have recently been quoted £6000 to have 8 veneers fitted to my teeth. I would like to know if others have had similar treatment done and what their experiences were.
Is this price is reasonable ?
Also has anyone had this treatment abroad ?

It's definitly 'top-end'.
For a resotrative / aesthetic specialist in maybe (but not necessarily) a swanky city centre practice this is about right.
You should maybe have seen models of how your teeth will look if done, had an extensive consultation, possibly even computer simulations of your face with the new smile.
In short, you should really feel impressed and sure the treatment is going to be worth £6000.How to find a dentist.
1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.0 -
I have had porcelain veneers on my front teeth for several years now. They're wonderful in many ways, but I've never been entirely happy about their shade - they tend to look rather yellow in photos.
I would like to have my teeth bleached prior to my wedding, but understand, much to my dismay, that this won't really do anything to alter the colour of the veneers.
How could I alter their colour? Would it be possible to remove them (while leaving them intact) then reapply them with a lighter coloured adhesive, or would I require a whole new set to be made?
Any insights gratefully received.0 -
I'm afraid that you would have to have them totally replaced. They are a very thin layer of porcelain, and it is the porcelain that is the key to the colour.
Although they do occasionally fall off, I would hate to have to try and get one off intact. they are really brittle fragile things on their own.
If you do get them re-done (They will need redoing every once in a while anyway) and you want the rest whitened, then go through the bleaching treatment in between getting the old ones off and the new ones on.How to find a dentist.

Hi all,
I am thinking of getting Veneers for my teeth and have heard that you can get great treatment overseas at great prices.
Does anyone know about this?
I will travel anywhere.
Thanks.

Get it done locally, or somewhere your own dentist has referred you to.How to find a dentist.

Hi! I need some help...I had a few porcelain veneers on my front teeth approx 13 years ago on the NHS. Over the years one has broken off and now the very front one has chipped so you can see part of my original tooth- not very sightly as you can imagine. I havent been to the dentist now for 10 years (awful i know) Is this something i could have fixed and if i could would this be done on the NHS- im 28 now. Thanks x0

Aesthetic dentistry isnt covered under the NHS as routine.
To be honest if you want aesthetic veneers the lab bills will be bigger than the dentist's renumeration from the NHS.
Procera, Inceram, Empress all have a good reputation. Do a google search.0 -
Just go and see a dentist ASAP.
Something to consider is that it is very hard to match up a single veneer with the others. The others will be older, a bit worn, and maybe a bit stained. The new one, even if the colour match is good, may stand out a bit. It may be worth considering getting them all replaced at the same time.
Inceram is an excellent veneer material, Procera & Empress are excellent for crowns, but not so good for veneers.
Just simple bog standard porcelain, if done really thin by a good technician, can look as good as anything, but it will all depend on how the tooth was originally prepared.
It may be worth looking fo the reason why it cracked as well. 13 years is a good age for a veneer, but still worth checking you've not recently developed a tooth-grinding habit that may break the new ones as well.

I had one done when I first registered at a private practice, think it was about 4 or 5 years ago. It was a top front - not one of the middle ones but the one next to it. It cost £180 then but I expect it may have gone up by now. I'm sure someone who's had one done more recently will be along to let you know the approximate current cost.0
