Bye Bye

I signed up to MSE in the hopes of helping people with regards to statutory rights. I have a degree in this field and I am a consultant to several major firms as well as Trading Standards, the CAB, CCCS and carry out work for the OFT as well.

So I thought that my expertise in this field might be helpful, and possiby appreciated.

It seems however that, unless you belong to certain groups of people and agree with them, its a case of "get stuffed".

I reall do no understand how this forum works. You post correct advice, someone disagrees and casts insults, and then someone else comes along and clicks the "thank you for this useful post" button.

Great. Well done. I didn't realise it was a forum for, well, childish skirmishes and insults, as well as, quite frankly, some of the most appalling advice I have seen given (which gets a thnk you).

I'm carrying on posting on other sites and carrying out my normal work for people who might actually appreciate it, and leave you to your little playschool antics.

I'd like to say it was a pleasure, but it wasn't.

Sorry BB but I'm reporting this post.

I know how you feel but there isn't a place for this kind of 'flounce' on MSE.

Shame that people who want to help have to leave.

I try and stay away from the cliques but I think I do know what you mean.

Enjoy your other forums and all the best.

This will be removed pretty soon but still....

It's an internet forum - you need to toughen up and not take things so personally tbh. People are more outspoken than perhaps they would be in RL but there are lots of good people on here. If your advice is worth posting then it won't become less so because someone argues it. If I felt I was in a position to offer something more useful than the people criticising me, I'd be more determined to stick around but we're all different I guess.

I have to say, I have never understood why people feel the need to post these dramatic 'I'm leaving' threads. If you feel that badly, why not just go?

I can't see why you're reporting this Tadoka  posts like this do appear from time to time & this particular one doesn't seem to me to be 'spam, illegal, offensive, racist, libelous'

If I were to have a tantrum and leave MSE as a result of one or two "rogue" posters, I'd have left within the first week of signing up. You learn to take the rough with the smooth. It has been said so many times the "thanks" button is completely irrelevant to the usefulness of a post, I could "thank" a poster for cracking a good joke, or just to say "hello".

If it wasn't a pleasure, I'd like to say you will be missed....but you wont!

baddiebasher, it would perhaps help if you grow some thicker skin, as everyone has a different opinion, and in cases where you've disagreed with someone, you've actually come across as quite aggressive.

People's difference of opinion aren't personal, so no need to get wound up or upset over it. All that's required is some thicker skin, and ignore any posts that are blantant trolling.

There's always going to be clique's (like the "your house will drop 50% and everyone is doomed" brigade - YAWN!), but although you can't avoid them, you can ignore them!
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)
  • Just a last word - I have only logged on because I was expecting a message on how to unsubscribe.

Firstly, I do have tought skin. It is not about my feelings getting hurt or anything like that. It is merely a case of trying to impart information, only to have someone come along and "rubbish" it by some disagreement. Such a person usually belongs to some "clique", members of which thank the disagreeing post for what is really just an attempt at insulting someone. And it is not just opinions that come into this - it is matters of fact. Criticising someone for posting accurate and factual information, just because one disagrees with it, is simply wrong. If one believes the information to be inaccurate, then post a correction. That is something I would welcome. But unfortunately threads turn into slanging matches and achieve nothing.

Secondly, and funnily enough related to the bit about "tough skin", why is this post worthy of reporting? Several posts have talked about me needing to have a tougher skin, yet as soon as one post comes along criticising MSE, there is immediate talk of having it removed! I don't think it's me that needs the tougher skin!

There are three other forums that I work on, and I have never come across the kind of behaviour that I have seen on here.

It does seem to be a minority, but it is not something I want to spend my time dealing with. I have a hard enough time dealing with some of the MPs I come into contact with!

Thank you to all above for your mature comments. I wish everyone on MSE all the best and hope that everyone has a peaceful and merry Christmas.
