I picked Alex to win from her audition and i think she is great, i must say i must have heard differently to a lot of people here because i just heard passion in her voice not warbbling. I also liked Diana so cant wait for her album also.:smileyhea Getting married on, 05/06/10 :smileyhea0

If it is true that her album is going to be out so soon then clearly Cowell is worried that she is going to be quickly forgotten and needs to get product out asap.
Poor kid seems to think she is a superstar; I fear she will hit the ground with a bump and soon be forgotten. Although she can sing, what was original about her voice? Not a lot...
The problem with X-factor winners is that, unless they are very very very good indeed, they are not going to carve out a career unless production companies are willing to hype them long term. I used to be a record store manager and bargain bins are littered with albums from singers who thought they were so great, but really had no grass roots fan base and simply disappeared.0

i agree with above. thats the main problem with it all
and anyway surely if she was THAT good then she'd have gotten a contract through the proper channels? AND had a fan base to back her.0

To be fair, there's loads of super talented people out there who don't get the exposure so don't get the sales. This sort of thing happens all the time and can be just about luck as much as talent - would we REALLY have heard of Tracy Chapman if there hadn't been that technical fault at Nelson Mandela's 70th birthday gig all those years ago, for instance?
If Alexandra's album really IS coming out so soon she has just one peron to blame - Leon Jackson. Call me Carmine.... Call me Carmine....
HAVE YOU SEEN QUENTIN'S CASHBACK CARD??0

Lol agreed, that kid was never going to make it though. Michael Buble-esque singers are an aquired taste at best.
Burke's a generic power ballad singer - mums love it.0

 I'm a mum and I can assure you I don't love her style of singing at all!
And my mum feels the same!
 Take that back NOW!!!!!
 :rotfl:
ETA - I'm not sure who her target market is as my kids think she's an over-acting, over-singing, over-rated muppet (my 10 yos words, not mine ) lmao "I married beneath me, all women do." - Nancy Astor 1879-1964 ) lmao "I married beneath me, all women do." - Nancy Astor 1879-1964

Precedent says she probably won't survive - the runners up tend to do better than the winners, from what I remember (which isn't much, although I am subjected to the X Factor every year by my 10 yo!). I really can't imagine who she appeals to, to be honest, but she obviously does to some."I married beneath me, all women do." - Nancy Astor 1879-1964

I think Girls Aloud have been the only REAL success out of one of these shows so far. Whether you like them or not, six albums is a lasting run from a reality show.
Will Young is the only other one i think. And thats only because he did the obligatory pop idol single and then did his own thing.
To be honest even with all the hype leona lewis is getting i still dont see her lasting. But the fact shes managed to win over America aswell stands her in with a better chance.0

Did you know that one of the previous winners of the X-factor now apparently sings cabaret on the Bilbao-Southampton ferry!!!0
