Is Tiscali any good?

tiscali bought out world online/screaming.net years ago when dial up was at t's peak, they even mucked that up and they never got better - ever.0

NOooooooo .... (in slow motion)
For those who are impressed with Tiscali, you are lucky!! hope it stays that way because if it goes wrong they have no idea how to sort themselves out.
Signed up on 6/11/08 for talk & broadband on a new line, the phone was connected within 6 days but the sales guy had taken the wrong email address so they "stopped" processing my broadband (??)
I still don't have any home broadband (this is my works connection) to this day....no paperwork, no customer care, I dont exist according to tiscali and nobody wants to help sort it out.
I canceled the order as of 8/12/08.....still waiting for a reply to two recorded letters?
Nuff saidWhen a jar contains rocks, pebbles and sand is it truly full? What about beer?0 -
Must admit my tiscali tv freezes at least twice daily !! a bit crappy rebooting router in the middle of watching something !!!!!!!!0

Don't go to Tiscali is my opinion ...
I'm still being hounded by them with automated phone messages, even on Boxing Day to get in touch with them urgently as there is a problem with my line. I left Pipex/Tiscali back in May after they disconnected me for a month without reason. Customer service is appalling :mad:0 -
I do love reading about people complaining about tiscali...and then signing with CPW (or vice-versa).
Frying pans and fires spring to mind...then again...if you don't know what you're missing....
My thoughts are....if you are likely to make only limited use of the net...a bit of browsing and the occasional email, and you don't mind "the internet" slowing down at teatime, because that's "normal", then tiscali/aol/tt/etc... are probably going to be ok for you (which is why they do have happy customers).
I'm not one of these people, which is why I pay more than 3 buttons and a lock of hair for my broadband service, but if I was....£5/month with a free car thrown in seems a good deal (until you read the small print).

In my case I was a Pipex customer for 12 years paying £25 a month. Pipex were sold to Tiscali and that is when my problems really began mainly with billing errors. My claim against them is finished (through ISPA) and they have repaid money owing to me, but continue to send automated phone messages.
Now a very happy customer of Zen Internet costing £17 per month and monthly contract :j0 -
O2 £7.50 a month 8 meg + great coutomer support0

Tiscali suck, basically. Was my first ISP ever back in the dial up days, they were unreliable and their customer service was useless and patronising. Zen are gorgeous. Been with them nearly a year now and absolutely fantastic. Recommended them to a mate who'd had even worse problem than me with Tiscali ( including them leaving him without a working phoneline for nearly 3 months whilst continually blaming BT and then not even apologising when it did turn out to be their fault, oh and continuing to take money out of his account months after he had cancelled with them and then denying he'd made the cancellation ) and he can't praise them highly enough.
Mind you neither of us are interested in all singing all dancing tv/net/phone packages, we just need a phoneline and broadband, but you do get what you pay for, I feel." Baggy, and a bit loose at the seams.. "~ November 8th 2008. Now totally DEBT FREE !~0 -
Swings and roundabouts springs to mind....
we have had tiscali for 2 years now, with free line rental... we have had no problems.
