    Afternoon all :hello:

Just popping in to say I have had a bargaintastic weekend :D After meeting up with Caterina, Plum Pie, LilacLillie and M.E. yesterday, I went over to the second hand classical CD shop which is owned/run by my ex-housemate - not only was he having a Christmas party (which is why I went) but he had all his stock reduced to sily prices - I spent £37 and got 2 DVDs for myself and lots of CDs (some brand new & shrink-wrapped) for my mum and dad for Christmas and a couple of things for my mum's birthday too :j

Then today after church (it was a late one - we had four people being confirmed, plus it was our vicar's 70th birthday so there was a [STRIKE]p*ss up[/STRIKE] restrained parish gathering (;)) afterwards) I popped into Somerfield for some Bombay Sapphire as they have it on a really good offer at the moment - and what should I find but a fridgeful of free range chicken in the process of being marked down to final reductions :j :j I got 3 whole small chickens plus 6 breasts and 4 legs, plus a pack of mussels in garlic sauce, all for a grand total of £9.50 :D I am going to have the mussels for my tea, and as for the chicken, I will somehow get it all in the freezer!

This haul meant I couldn't buy the things I went in for, as I simply wouldn't have been able to carry them home on the bus! So I am going to pop out to Lidl in a moment, before it shuts. Then am looking forward to a rest (drinking wine at lunchtime doesn't really agree with me :o)

    Love Rzl xx

xlibris I used to work for M&S and I know they try to use people in their ads who actually buy their stuff. Shirley Bassey and Joan Collins are long term well known M & S shoppers.

Sorry to M&S (hangs head in shame!) I didn't know this

Blimey, it's only 5pm and I'm beyond tired. DH's snoring has gotten SO bad lately that I am getting no sleep past 2am. He tells me I'mover reacting and that he only snores when he's been drinking  So last night I recorded him on my mobile and played it back to him this morning-you should have seen his face :rotfl: :rotfl: He says maybe it because he has a cold, I say its because hes nearly 19st in weight!!!!!

Just got all the tree and deccie's down from their hiding places so am about to do that with the kids - wish them luck, I like it nice and tidy and cant bear them making a mess of it all.

    Evening all,

OH and I went out for what was probably the worst walk we have ever been on, we went to the woods, which were so wet and boogy underfoot that we slipped all the way round, there was freezing fog, so you could not see more that 10 feet in front of you, it kept raining sleety rain, and I have never been so cold in my life  , we only lasted an hour before coming home, have spent the rest of the day indoors with the heating on.

I made a huge pot of carrot and corriander soup, enough for OH to take each day this week, and a batch of cheese scones, which were delish still warm with butter  . And a batch of cookies, and a roast chicken dinner, so have kept myself busy, OH peeled the spuds for dinner and he done 34 roasties for three of us  , there is a load left, so will have them tomorrow as well.

Going to settle down now and watch Elf, hugs where needed, have good evenings all, and keep warm xx

    evening!

been a long day at work. We took 2 service users to Telford christmas shopping - they loved the atmosphere and enjoyed the bands playing carols.
My lovely DH has bought me a pine cupboard off Ebay - to cheer me up he said, bless him.He also got some coal and had a lovely fire going for when I got home.
Just had tea and need to walk the dogs now.
(((hugs))) to everyone who needs one

    Take care x

    Good evening all!:hello:

Rzl - I tried Bombay Sapphire when we were staying at a Premier Inn recently, because you'd said how nice it was. I couldn't believe how different it was from Gordon's, which was the only other one I'd tried. So smooth! But so expensive, especially in the hotel bar:o Will pop into Somerfield and see if they've still got the offer on. Glad you had a nice time yesterday - I had hoped to come but haven't been well this week. Maybe next time!

Muppet81 - Aw, what a shame when you were looking forward to a feast. I bet Joan Collins has a huge cooker, not to mention someone to do the cooking for her! A nice night intogether sounds a lovely idea ;)

taplady - I lit a candle for Lesley at mass this morning. Thinking of you. how sweet of your DH to buy you the cupboard.

Redruby - it sounds as if you were quite lucky not to get lost in the woods, though I expect you know them very well. Glad you've been able to warm up again.

VickyA - Best wishes to your Mum!

    ((((HUGS)))) to all in need.

I'm cooking roast chicken and roast potatoes, just for DH and me. I bought some goose fat to do the roasties at Christmas so thought I'd try it out the other week. And yes, they were very nice, but tbh I didn't think they were any better than when I do them in beef dripping. Still, we've got the goose fat now so may as well use it. I usually cook them in olive oil now since OH was diagnosed with diabetes, but all his books say it's okay to push the boat out on special occasions :p

Time to go and baste the chook again so will say cheerio for now.

    Best wishes
