    Don't be so pathetic

Have you seen the price of a brand new coachbuilt Silver Cross?

  • thank you to everyone who's offered advice

I do have another pram but would really love to get this one useable again as its sooo beautiful - and who else would want this pram smelling as it does?

there's no way we'd use this pram as it is, I can hardly bear the smell myself so the thought of putting a poor little baby in there... <shudder>

We've been trying to air it outside as much as possible but with this changeable weather its not easy

I'll give some of your suggestions a try and see how we go

    thanks again :)

I would try a really good, thick dusting of bicarb - then vacuum it out after 24 hours or so.

I had a handed down pram - it was brilliant - people would hold doors open for me in town... it did 6 babies - the oldest is now 22 the youngest will be 13 in January - I do hope you get it sorted! (The pram started off as my sisters...)

  • i would be wary of adding air freshener to something thats already highly dangerous to adults, let alone babies. remember that it wont get rid of the nicotine etc, just add more chemicals to it. sounds like respitory problems waiting to happen :(

i dont have any better ideas though im afraid - someone told me the other day that spraying on pure vodka got smoke smells off their handbag but i've not tried it myself. your kid might smell like a junkie if you add vodka to the mix though. good luck!

Try this, if it is good enough to get rid of cat pee and dog doo dah smells then it should be good enough for your pram.

Our old car used to rain into the boot and the carpet was stinking. I used this on it and it got rid of the smell.

I found an old pump action foot spray bottle and filled it with this, a few squirts and the smell was gone.

You would be ok to put the pram outside in the inclement weather. It was the Silver Cross coachbuilt prams that people had when mothers left their babies outside manyyears ago.
I had a SC pram, they are wonderful and last forever. I hope you can sort this problem out for the new baby. Sorry i don't have any useful advice.
  • what about bio washing powder? thats what i used when my tom cat weed on my new rug a couple of times.... it took the smell right out

  • I bought a travel cot from ebay to use for when I look after my new nephew. It is in absolutely mint condition apart from the fact that it smells slightly of smoke. It's not overpowering but nonetheless it's still there.

Is there any way I can get rid of the smoke smell? I can't really put it outside to air as it's raining non stop. Was wondering whether something like febreeze might work (yes, I know it's not very OS :o) or whether this would be harmful to the skin of a very new baby. Any other ideas welcome!

It's like the one in this link so has a fair bit of (non washable) fabric. It also has a non washable fabric hood thingy not shown in the pic.
