Just to let everyone know (sorry if already posted.... have skim read ALL the pages!!!!) I opened a Reward account today, in branch, & got £50.00 for switching accounts! The £50.00 was paid in immediately! Apparently only available for opening in branch!
Hope this helps someone

:T
I phoned City Centre branch and asked if their were any switch incentives, firstly I was told "yes we are offering 25.00", after I replied that I read that 50.00 was being offered the person quickly answered "yes you are correct, sorry about that I dont normally work in this branch". It was confirmed that the 50.00 gets credited immediately, all that is required is a form to be filled in with sort code/account number of other Bank Account.
Does both credits and debits have to be switched please or either/or/both ????? and do they insist that the switched from account gets closed as part of the transfer. ????????
Edited to add that ive now phoned a branch more local to me to ask if I could go there to complete appropriate forms instead of the city centre branch, their answer was that only certain branches are offering the incentive and they arent one of them.0 -
If you want to take the account down to 0 online you need to put an overdraft onto the account - if you go to the online banking system it'll tell you how much you're pre-approved for0

The £100 credit necessary to have your debit card, PIN and cheque book despatched when opening up a new account has to be in the account overnight.
Hope this helps
the £250 is def the staff rate. for customers, they need to pay in £1000 pm0 -

I shall ask them if they are offering any incentives to do so. :cheesy:
if you do use the Automated Account Transfer Service and bring your main bank acc to HX then you qualify for HX EXTRAS. Which gives you even more perks such as:- if you're moving home, check out our mortgage range which now includes free conveyancing if you take out or hold a bank account with us.
- Halifax Guaranteed Saver Reward account features a special offer of 2.50% AER, guaranteed for 12 months, that's only available for our current account customers. Find out more
- You not only receive free Home Emergency Cover to help fix unexpected home emergencies - we'll give you £50 now to switch and another £50 for every year you stay with us and don't make a claim.
- Wouldn’t it be great to have extra time to pay for things? Well, with our Credit Card, that’s exactly what you’ll get – a whole year interest free on purchases. That’s 3 months more than our current high street offer.
-
Not only that, but you’ll also get 0% for the first 9 months on balances transferred in the first 90 days (with a 3% fee) so if you have balances on other credit or store cards, why not transfer them and you could save money.

From their website, the extras are available to ALL current account customers, not just those who switch0

If I opened 3 reward accounts with Halifax and 3 with Bank Of Scotland and ran the same £1000 thru the 6 accounts leaving it in overnight for each account would I be eligable for 6 lots of payment?
Can u transfer money from a Halifax account into a Bank Of Scotland account or does the money need to come externally to be eligable?0 -
I'm no expert on HBOS administration, but I recall that the maximum amount of these group accounts one can hold is three.
That said, I do seem to remember one poster indicating that they had secured four.0 -

That'd be me then.
My "plan" for getting the balance of my accounts down to zero without an overdraft is to reduce the balance to a round £1000 then have that move via standing order to my other reward account a couple of days later. I've not tried this yet but have one scheduled for the 21st. I can't see why this shouldn't work as there will be sufficient funds to cover the SO without creating an overdrawn balance."A nation of plenty so concerned with gain" - Isley Brothers - Harvest for the World0
