When I asked if £1.00 a day fee on overdrafts was coming in accross the board, the fella at the Halifax said "who know's"
According to the news item linked to the original post,
The charges will start with the launch of a new account ...dubbed the "Reward" account...on 9 February 2009

As part of the transition process, the Halifax will move people who still operate its now closed "Moneyback" account to the new format in February.

but most existing accounts will be moved to the new charging structure later in the year.
..in other words, had you left your account as is - until next Monday - you could have opened the new account directly. You now appear to be holding the 'wrong' type of current account to allow you to be moved to the 'Rewards' account at the soonest opportunity [..if having the new account was what you wanted to achieve?...]
.....under construction.... COVID is a [discontinued] scam

The new account (the reward one) is no good to me, I am overdrawn 15+ days a month, went with High Interest Current account as it as the lowest overdraft rate at 15.9% instead of £1 a day for being overdrawn.

Nice one. I got a letter stating that my money back account would be changing from Monday. Having read on here, I also have a normal current account, which should/will also be getting changed over (i think) and I set up a SO between the accounts, then I'm on to £10/month. Result.

The normal current account will only be changed over to Reward if you request it. Otherwise, it will stay exactly as it is at the moment.

will transfering £1,000 from another halifax account to this Reward account count towards the requirement of paying in £1,000 or does it have to be from another bank?

.... it always has, for existing Current accounts, and there are no words in the new T&Cs to change this.
I've just converted my OH 'housekeeping' account to the Reward and that will be funded via transfer from a joint Reward account (then I'll transfer some back!). And I expect to have no issues with that (at least with Halifax ... possibly some issues with the OH, who will regard the 1st transfer as a bonus!)
If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !

It's fine to do that. I went up today and the s/a actually said to do that as I have my wages going into another account. Not sure if it has to be in 24hrs or something, will have to double check the T&C's.

I've rarely ever used my overdraft so this is great, thanks OP. :j
