Halifax Reward

i think the reward acc is pretty good, for me anyway.
i've got an URCA paying £12.50/m and use it for everyday use and a new Reward purely for bills. I've a SO for £1k going from URCA -> Reward just before DDs come out. That'll give me the £5. Once the DDs are all cleared transfer whatever's left to the URCA (inc the £5 Reward).
Jobs a goodin I'm getting my URCA for £7.50/m.
Mobile phone insurance would normally cost about £6/m on it's own. So now for an extra £1.50/m i get mobile insurance, worldwide travel insure for me and the Mrs ( for that 1 trip away each year), RAC cover, Home emergancy cover and home insurace discount of 15%, and purchase protection, plus more.
i don't think that's a bad deal at all.0 -
The £250 credit necessary to get the £5 bonus can be transfered into and out of the account on the same day.
The £100 credit necessary to have your debit card, PIN and cheque book despatched when opening up a new account has to be in the account overnight.
Hope this helpsI Work for HBoS.. Got a question? Feel free to ask.0 -

£250?
Why does everybody and his dog think they need to put four times that amount in to receieve £5.
This includes, incidentally, the Halifax website. At least it did the last time I looked.0 -

Well, I've just tried laundering some money through the Reward account, and on an internal transfer, it seems I have to leave £1 in the account. The transfer wouldn't let me take the balance to zero!
Any comments?0 -

Did you use enough liquid?
Presumably, the account doesn't have an overdraft facility in use?
There has been a debate as to the smallest amount that could be left in the account, with zero beiong the most popular opinion. At least that is my perception.
It looks like you have disproved that theory.0 -

I guess I'll just have to explain the missing £1 to 'El Gringo' in Columbia0 -

My paperwork stated overdraft 5.00 as well even though I asked for no overdraft, paperwork also states " in order to maintain any overdraft on the account you must credit your salary or other payments into the account"
The account that I opened online was detailed to Bristol Central Branch who firstly tried to phone and then wrote asking me to contact them to let them know if I wish to use their Automated Account Transfer Service. I shall ask them if they are offering any incentives to do so. :cheesy:0 -

I can take mine down to £0.01 online, but no further. If you are desparate for the extra penny, you could go into a branch and withdraw the cash.:rotfl:0
