Yule log recipe?

Hi

Ive seen these in shops but i really fancy having a go and making one........

Can anyone point me in the right direction for an easy to follow recipe (ive tried saint delias site but no luck) or can anyone let me know their recipe?

Any advice or recipes greatfully recieved.

TIA

Heldaz

ps i fancy trying one with a solid chocolate coating rather than butter cream.

    Hi There,
I may be wrong but isn't it just a basic sort of Swiss roll cake with chocolate on it?

I don't know cause i don't eat cakes but i'm sure you just have to make a Swiss roll with any filling you like , roll it up and put chocolate on the top!

Replace one to one and a half tablespoons of flour with cocao powder to make the swiss roll chocolate flavour.

For the icing I make butter cream and then add melted chocolate this makes the covering really nice and chocolately and its not so soft, its delish.

It's a giant swiss roll covered in chocolate ;D ;D You decorate it with stick on robins and Merry Christmas signs and sprinkle icing sugar on to make it look like it's snowed (or I did as a kid)

    Picture (and recipe)

    The origins of the yule

The edited version (cause I know you're busy today) basically says pagans light a log and do a dance makes the sun come up in summer.

Probably not a good idea to get the kids decorating one today though ((((160)))) :-* thinking of you. I had the same thing last Christmas.
When life hands you a lemon, make sure you ask for tequilla and salt ;)
