But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free.
Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.:D
Today I will:
- check online banking
- update spreadsheets
- make a loaf in breadmaker
- add some coins to sealed pot
- swim and jacuzzi to use gym membership - if I get time
- storecupbord lunch
- cook tea for oldes at work and eat for free
- check out any bargains at costco this morning when I go for work
- fill up with petrol at cheap garage on way
- laundry hokey cokey
Another cold and frosty day here, but not as cold as yesterday. Will need to be wearing some warm socks though;)
Hve a good day everyone.:D
Ctch up with you later:D

Hi everyone, I havent had chance to post for the last few days, busy with work and stuff, totally feeling myself falling of the wagon too.
Sophiesmum, our old lap top kept loosing keys, we downloaded a programme called keytweak (for free) and you can reprogramme another key to do that function, we used the key under and to the left of the a (\|) as that doesnt get used. However, the x key a shift key and the caps lock also evenutally went, as did the port where you charge the battery up from, so we got another one in the end.
OK, MSE things for me today will include
- chasing up some phone calls when DS has his sleep
- going on work christmas do tonight but might drive and only having the meal, not going out with them after
-package some ebay parcels
-post said ebay parcels (should have done that by now)0 -
Updated my spending spreadsheet.
Paid an extra fiver to GMCard (this is my cheapest card at 4.9% but will be reverting to 14.9% in May. My other card debts are 5.9% to 7.9% LOB deals so that's why I'm attacking the apparently cheapest debt first).
Written a cancellation letter to one of my larger customers. This may seem an odd thing to post on DFW but this customer has nibbled away at reducing my charges for sometime past and has also nibbled away at my self esteem with irritating jibes. Also, arranging access on some of the work had become quite a problem. Although I still have gaps in my workload, I know I could earn better elsewhere without having either my rates or my currently fragile self esteem eroded. This was a high maintenance customer who thought they could get reduced rates by volume of work. However, if that work becomes less and less accessible (thereby causing me to take longer to do the job for the same money), then there comes a point whewre it's time to move on. I'm not saying bad things about this customer (though the occasional jibes sometimes proved very irritating) as they were just trying to get the best possible deal for their business - as they are entitled to. However, getting a deal off a big company who can absorb the cost is one thing but nibbling away at the sole trader's hourly rate is quite another (I would say that , wouldn't I?
) Losing £1,200 - £1,300 a year from my turnover is a small price to pay for peace of mind. Also, I'm not a complete fool and do have other work coming in that will replace this. Although money is very important to me, not everyone appreciates that the other great thing about being self-employed is that, within certain limits, I can choose my working environment. Unfortunately, this customer had been exceeding these limits for some time past. To the customer, it will look like a sudden decision but, in reality, I have been weighing up my options since last Spring.
That got a bit long winded didn't it but I needed to write it. Now that I have written it down, I am more convinced that I am doing the right thing for me personally and for my small business. Basically, it's an average of £27 a week off my turnover which I can earn in about 60% of the time (with less hassle) elsewhere.0
