My dh informed his CO that we are looking to book a holiday in Cuba, they all thought it wasnt a problem, we didnt look into it further, may be we should have. Anyhow, we booked it on Friday (tesco vouchers!) and now his CO today said he thinks that it is a problem. Of course we cant get hold of anyone to ask. Do any of you lovely lot know?! I just feel sick at the thought of maybe losing all those vouchers.

Only Americans are forbidden by their govenment from holidaying in Cuba.

If the CO plays up mention the human rights act.

  • CO, police flight, int corps, RMP, CI... I get that your partner is somehow involved in the military, but how difficult would it be for people to use plain English in this thread?
  • Thanks again everyone. We have got to the bottom of it I think. We can go, he just cant go to any brothels! What I think that means is he cant get into trouble, we will have to find something else to do rather than go to a brothel:rotfl:

And who would want to eat broth when on holiday anyway?;)
Find out who you are and do that on purpose (thanks to Owain Wyn Jones quoting Dolly Parton)

You're on the Armed Forces Board - get with the program!! ;)

Actually like DD, OH, DS etc, perhaps we should have a sticky glossary of all the abbreviations.

Yes but we're on the armed forces board of moneysavingexpert.com upen to all, not all in the armed forces, so plain English is still good manners and a valuable discipline. I can't stand the DD stuff either, though.

This is the armed forces board. Those abbreviations are English to us in the forces - everyday language in fact.
If you don't like it, don't whinge about it - go found out what they mean. It wouldn't do you any harm to broaden your horizons and make some effort to find out more about the armed forces serving your country!!!

This is the moneysavingexpert.com forum. Those abbreviations are jargon to us in the rest of the world - a foreign language in fact.
If you don't like it, don't whinge about it - take the trouble either to translate or explain what they mean. It wouldn't do you any harm to broaden your horizons and make some effort to explain more about the armed forces serving your country!!!

Erm but this part of the forum was set up for the ARMED FORCES.....HENCE why its called UK ARMED FORCES Moneysaving

And martin even sets the first post up with this!!

    Hi

After a number of requests I decided it was time to open up an armed forces MoneySaving board for current and past members of the forces and their families.

The aim isn't to duplicate the rest of the forum and site, but far more to discuss those issues that are specific to members of the forces. Whether it be getting goods delivered overseas, the difficulty of getting life coverage, what's available when leaving the forces, specific discounts and how to get back to civilian life... I'm sure there are many more.

    I hope it will help

    All the best

    Martin

So your more than welcome to come and have a look and even post but please....I wouldn't expect you to change your ways on your specific part of the forum...so don't do it on our's ;)

as it says on the Yorkie bars we get in compo....it's not for civvies;)

Please explain to me why you would need to know what a CO is, or a RAOWO??? because you can never use them....unless your in the Forces kidda
If you find yourself in a fair fight, then you have failed to plan properly

I've only ever been wrong once! and that was when I thought I was wrong but I was right
