My diary - My ups and downs

Hello, well i haven't been on here for what feels like ages. I shall at some point catch up with you all! Well i have been completely shattered since starting new job, leaving my house at 7am and not getting home until 5 - 5/30pm. I have had no energy and have been in bed by about 7/30pm - have felt sick and not eaten and have had the runs for three days, whether its stress/nerves due to the new job or a mini flu i have no idea but i have felt rough.
The job so far is going to be good i think once i get used to the travelling and learn how to do the job, at the moment i am doing hardly nething except watching what others are doing. I have done a few exams and money laundering and health and safety, thats about it.
My old boss didn't pay me any holiday pay, he said i am not entitled to it. Is he correct? I was expecting 2009's holiday that was due to me in my wage slup but he reckons that isn't how it works and i earn my 2009 holiday during 2009. I thought the 2008 year i worked made my holiday for 2009 who is right? He also paid me for 2 x 16hrs instead of 2x21 hours = so i told him he owes me 10 hours. He also charged me £47 for a phone he gave me 3 yrs ago and has never asked for it back, so today i sent it back to him and told him to refund me the £47. I have had to borrow £300 from mum coz the money he gave me wasn't enough to pay my bills, so i am sooo stressed and spent far to much on credit card this last month coz i thought i was entitled to lots of holiday money.
So how are you all, what have i missed?
Oh my dad got made redundant last week, i clean at his house on a Sun - i get paid £80 a month, don't no if i'll still be able to do that now he has no job bless him.0 -
Oh bless you smarties, sorry to hear bout your dads job too, shame your old boss is being an a**e. The holiday thing im not too sure about but i dont think you get them for working last year, think you earn them this year......not sure though.
Hope you feel better soon, glad new job is working out. You will soon fall into your own little routine in a morning and will be able to stay up longer!!

Have you got a contract of employment from your last job, re your holidays, employers work 2 differerent ways
1st - work a yr in hand - so eg April 1st 2007 - March 31st 2008 = 20 days hol to be taken between Apr 1st 2008 and Mar 31st 2009, then you have built the next yrs hol up
or
2nd - acruual - you get holiday entitlement as you go along, so as b4
Apr 1st 2007 - 31st March 2008 - 20 days hol but u use them in the yr that u earn them.
Hope that helps xxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
thanks mum2one but i cudnt tell you where my contract was, i probably got rid of it accidently yrs ago as i was sorting my file with everything in and it wasnt there, only last wk..... boss is stunned apparantly that i think i am being cheated out of money!! if im owed it, i want it!!!0
-
If youve worked for the same firm for a gd few yrs its likely that u are on the old style hol work a yr in hand.... what a t!!t he was deducting the £47 for a phone, I'd write to him, by recorded delievery stateing that you would like a full breakdown of holiday entitlement and the remaining money that ur owed, if he has underpaid you.
Totally agree if ur owed it, u get it,, u worked damm hard and u deserve it!
If you get any probs, its worth haveing a look on ACAS website.xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
thank u, yes he is a complete !!!!!! - always has been. i asked him for break down, he gave me it and i told him i want the extra 10 hrs i did paid into my account and i have sent his phone back to him and he has received it, i tracked it. so i am waiting for the £47 back.
thanks for ur advice x0 -
