  • 1) If you have a TV license, why do you care so much?
    2) If you begrudge paying your TV license, sell your TV, make a few quid and get a hobby. Problem solved.

    Totally agree.

e.g. our Tv licence fees pay for 'Hole in the wall' with Dale Winton. ;)
  • My OH swipped his clubcard when a friend who wasnt a clubcard collector brought a new tv. Even though friend gave his details my OH still got chased for not having a TV license. Its under my name.

  • It is a vent because the Tax is regressive. You do not go to the Newsagent and buy the Sun, and have to pay for the Mirror, nor Pay for the Guardian when you want the Times.

Sky is more expensive, but you do not have to purchase it. To watch Sky (Or Setanta for that) one has to pay Crapita the TV Tax.

But you may well be paying for ITV, C4, Five, Sky if your newspaper happens to run adverts on those TV channels.

It's quite funny that most people who are anti-license fee choose to totally ignore this stealth license fee. Then they wonder why governments like stealth taxes so much (stealth means hiding the tax a £100+ bill for a TV license isn't even remotely stealthy).

  • I can understand them taking details for buying things like a TV, but not for a Freeview box, for surely you need a TV for the freeview box to work. Same thing with a DVD player...which if you are only watching DVD's and using consoles, as I do, you don't need a TV license. You only need it if you are watching or recording programes as they are being broadcast.

I ignor the letters from TV Licencing, and when they come around I will be quite happy to show them my TV!

Thats impossible because they would have just took the details from the clubcard and your friend couldn't have given his details.

Could the friend not have given the details, and then posters OH swiped Clubcard after?! Anything is possible!!
