Wow that was a leap! However it's not over just yet!
I have won the award I applied for with uni, which has been credited to my account, and I have just had my tax rebate credited to my account.
Unfortunately the firm I subconracted for to work Glasto messed me up big time. They said that they would pay me 2nd Friday in July by BACS, Self Employed and all the hours I worked. What they did is tax me to hell, on the contracted hours which I make at least £50 short and send a cheque which arrived Thursday this week. Meanwhile I had the car payment come out by dd, which bounced, so now the finance company wants to charge me £25 and the bank wants to charge me £38 which I will clearly argue about. I unfortunatley went to check my balance to see that it had gone out the evening that it was due, so I didn't have the chance to do anything about it, I'm still on 12 hour shifts!
I am thinking I will take the contractor to small claims court over the hours, they put it in writing this time that they would pay all the hours, then at the end of the week refused to give me a copy of my log in and out sheet, so I was suspicious that they were going to do this. I would have probably let it go but having to pay out an extra £63 because they messed about paying me takes the mick.
On the plus side new employer is really impressing me, my wages have been put into my account on time with minimum fuss. I will ring the tax office on Monday and state that I am no longer self emplyed (it is way too much hassle with contractors being such awkward people to try to work with). I really like my new job as well, much better than security and I have lots of shifts in the summer, but can reduce in September.
Right where your interested, CC cleared again. Have been offered low BT rate till christmas again so I am considering it. Debt now at £13777.20 (would have been better if I had been paid properly). I make me £977.70 behind now, enjoy it while it lasts!!!!!Debt £5600 all 0%0 -
hey!
Glad the new job is going well - the only way is up! its so bad when companies mess people about with their staffs money you think they would realise people relyo n it
I have been busy raising complaints with the onbudsman regarding my debts and charges, basically making a genral nusiance of myself and getting charges removed :T
Then on the back of one of my posts on here I spoke to CAB regarding the no- existant CCA for my car and they mirrored a reply I got on here - if they haven't produced one 9 months after taking the fee for it they probably wont so i took the step to remove that debt from the plan for now and any monies I had saved up went towards the credit cardsTOTAL: (1.9.2008) £[strike]20,971.00[/strike] (02.12.10)£11,006.07£9,262.93 Paid off (Since LBM)Debt Free Date [strike]2021[/strike] 2015Savings £100 Dec NSD 11/20, Sealed pot challenger 1043:xmassign:0 -
Right, sleaves metaphorically rolled up, have had a bit of a sort through and have some things I think I should ebay away over the next few weeks. The hours at work, while irregular, are enough to keep me going so all extra can clear the debt.
Still half debating which debt to clear first, and it depends on my ability to clear the car loan. If I can clear it with BT's and overdrafts then that definatley goes first, then pay off those asap, I need just over £5000 to clear it and by my calculations I could in theory BT £4322.50 So just need to find a further £700 through earnings over the summer, or in overdrafts which I think may be achievable. I know it's just shifting debt but it would be cheaper in the short term regarding rates. I just have to work out if I will be able to pay off the CCs in the given time to make it worthwhile as at full rate they are more expensive than the loan.
The other option is to clear the flexi loan which I can just do as I can afford it, where the interest is affected by me payin off more, on the theory that by Sept 2012 I will have paid off the car loan by then anyway, and I only save £1000 by paying early. The BT charge alone would be £130,then there is the interest on the BTs which although favorable are still to be factored in. The potential interest savings of paying off the flexi loan early are similar to the car loan in that the flex loan has longer to run and each small overpayment affects the total interest.
I have also been offered 0% on purchases on my CC which I could perhaps use as an alternative, just making sure that I was sensible about using it, especially as it is the cashback card. I have my car insurance and MOT due at the beginning of September and it would be useful to pay for them on card and pay it off before the rate ends, and putting the cash in a credit account which earns interest in the short term.Debt £5600 all 0%0 -
Decided on clearing the flexi loan first, and started with an extra £100 paid off today.Debt £5600 all 0%0

Well done you!!
I'm just about to pay another £51.00 off, still no word on the blooming Tax refund though which is a bit annoying.
I'm trying to re-jig my bills at the moment shaving off money where I can, I've got a few things I can't get out of but when the time comes I'll shop around for cheaper insurance just trying to decide on the old food billTOTAL: (1.9.2008) £[strike]20,971.00[/strike] (02.12.10)£11,006.07£9,262.93 Paid off (Since LBM)Debt Free Date [strike]2021[/strike] 2015Savings £100 Dec NSD 11/20, Sealed pot challenger 1043:xmassign:0 -
Thats cool, I should get a nice pay packet this week, I have to cancel my NI self employment contribution as I am now PAYE but still plan on taking a further £100 off the loan on Friday. I'm really looking forward to seeing it applied, the current finish date on the flexi loan is Nov 14, but the extra I paid the other day has not been applied yet.
New GFs birthday next Friday but I am working, but we are both planning on doing something on Wednesday. Just have to decide what.Debt £5600 all 0%0 -
Well, Don't know if she knows your situ but if you don't mind and she don't: Orange Wednesday - 2-4-1 tickets & then Take the code to your local Pizza Express and you get a deal there too...?
Aint it a great feeling to know your loan is coming to an end??? I know it was such a relief when mine finished last year - one less debt to worry about! plus you'll be that much better off and can throw that money at the other debts!TOTAL: (1.9.2008) £[strike]20,971.00[/strike] (02.12.10)£11,006.07£9,262.93 Paid off (Since LBM)Debt Free Date [strike]2021[/strike] 2015Savings £100 Dec NSD 11/20, Sealed pot challenger 1043:xmassign:0 -
She's off Pizza at the moment, but we did do the cinema thing. Fortunately for me she is also ambitious and careful with money.
I had one of the people who I lent money to ask me for more the other day, despite not having paid me a penny back! I explained that I could not afford to have her owe me the money she already owes and that she needs to pay me that back first before asking for more. Who knows perhaps she will pay me some back, probably not, but if she does that will be great!Debt £5600 all 0%0 -

Hi, I am working a riddiculous amount at the moment, I'm slightly shattered and not doing as much reading ready for uni next year as I would have liked but if I can get so I don't have to work every weekend it's all good!
I have paid some more off the debt but not updating till I am clear where I stand. My debt free date is coming satisfyingly closer every time though!Debt £5600 all 0%0
