Can you demand to see signed delivery note?

We had a delivery that didn't arrive and the manufacturer told us that the items had been signed for in the directors name a few days earlier.
Obviously we questioned this and asked to see the signed note as this is surely fraud (value of order £1000)
They later in the day rushed back with a replacement order but are now refusing to allow us to see the signed for form or give us the parcelforce tracking number to follow the matter up.
Although we have our items now, we are disturbed that a potential fraud had taken place by another business close by who signed for the parcel using the name on the delivery note.
Can we demand to see it legally?

How do you know it was another business close by that signed for your parcel? Did the manufacturer tell you this or are you assuming? It may be that the case has now been referred to the police and that is why you can't see the orginal delivery note.0

how did parcelforce rush back with a replacement? they are just the carrier, they would of had to get the item from the supplier. Maybe it was just their mistake and they tried to "fob you off" saying it had been signed for, as they hadnt been able to deliver it on time? by giving you this excuse, they are then able to stall and get (what they is a replacement) the original item to you0

The rep brought a replacement lot of goods later that day but they are still refusing to let us see the original delivery note etc.
The manufacturer told us it had been signed for by another business close by - how she knows that I don't know.0 -
Then it may be that the other company are going to be charged with obtaining goods by deception which may be why the manufacturer won't let you see the delivery note as it would be a police matter0
-
we threatened to phone the police yesterday which I think is why they hotfooted it round with replacements but we saw another business a few doors up had the same goods we were waiting for but the rep says they didnt place an order.....that's what makes us wonder and we won't stand for being ripped off by a neighbour.
The fact the delivery was signed using our name is the sticking point that changes it from a genuine mistake to a potential fraud0 -
have you been to the the companies nearby and asked if they have signed for something for you, maybe they have and have just forgotten, it may be under someones desk.
But at the end of the day, its not really your problem. they have got a signature for your item, you havent got the original item and it was their choice to get someone else to accept it. You would not be liable for this item as you/your company have not signed for it.
edit:The fact the delivery was signed using our name
In future you need to contact the carriers and put a note on saying that signatures must be of an individual name and not the company, anyone can write a company name. the carriers shouldnt accept this!0 -
Yes I understand that BUT it would appear to be a deliberate act by signing using the personal name of the director - not the person accepting the delivery0
-
Ah right, i see, you never said it was signed using the directors own name.
What difference is it going to make then having the delivery note you wont be able to work out whos writting it is will you?0 -

The sender can request a copy of the signature from Parcel Force I suspect, you can with Royal Mail deliveries.
It's your suppliers problem to sort out how they wish, you've got your goods.0 -
No but we will know if it was an attempted fraud. We have an idea who did it but without the signature we can't take it further.
The first line of my opening post said it was signed for in the directors name0
