I havne' tried anything else yet, but we eat a lot of chickpeas so that's something I should have a go at. I just assumed mung would be the easiest. Hmmm. Back to the kitchen to try again. I've been eating a lot of onion seeds this week. I wonder if they'd sprout!May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0

Queenie, is this what you have? http://www.naturalcollection.com/natural-products/3-Tier-Sprouter.asp
What do you use them in/for once you've sprouted them?
If I can manage to sprout some sweet ones, I thought they'd make a good snack for my son.May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0 -
I do mung beans in the semi dark - a kilner jar ithout the glass lid and a (clean!) dishcloth over the top. The dishcloth extends over the sides of the jar held by an elastic band and keeps the jar fairly dark“the princess jumped from the tower & she learned that she could fly all along. she never needed those wings.”

Do you find them sweet when raw, thriftmonster?May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0

Yes, they're good, although we mostly use them in stir fries. I do find them tastier if the jar is covered as much as possible“the princess jumped from the tower & she learned that she could fly all along. she never needed those wings.”

Sort of, but mine are square rather than cylindrical.
What do I use them for? Well, other than snacking on when I wash up, look out the kitchen window, walk past ...

Ok, well since joining the OS board I've started growing my own lettuce, bought a breadmaker and make a loaf daily, make enough keifir to make the entire street healthy.... and now I really really want to sprout some seeds!!!
I love beansprouts raw, and the alfalfa sounds great, so guess what I'll be hunting down next!
Off to retrieve my glass jars from the recycle bin now.....
