The Administrator is not a "manager" but someone whose job is to extract as much money from the business as possible. And that money goes to paying off the creditors - creditors whose business might also be threatened, as Woolies have not paid their debts e.g. to their suppliers.
Jobs might also be at risk at Woolies' suppliers, so every £1 that the Administrator can secure might actually save another job, elsewhere
And to make sure Woolworth can pay the £22,000 per hour that Deloitte will be charging since day 1 of administration

Went to the Bradford Big W yesterday and the biggest discount they had was 50%, some of the other stuff was still only 30 or 40% off, and you couldn't make an offer for things. One person in the queue next to me wanted to buy a games console but there was a piece of it missing so the manager wouldn't allow it to be sold, even though the customer wanted to buy it. There were people just sweeping armfuls of stuff off the shelves into their baskets without even looking to see what it was  I got a couple of kids books and some blank DVDs but other than that there weren't many bargains. The chip & pin machine on the till I was at wouldn't accept my card and I had to sign a receipt the old fashioned way, then the manager put my card in another till and it accepted it, so I hope I don't get charged twice :rolleyes:0

best of luck for the future maccaandclaire.
just out of interest
deloittee (sp) had the debt paid off within a few weeks and had no intention of letting woolies trade again or anyone else buying the name.
Shame on them but then again they have made a nice 22 million profit from it.If You See Someone Without A Smile......Give Them One Of Yours0 -

And were working on behalf of the banks who pushed woolies into admin so they could get their secured debts back. Banks who blocked the every chance to save the stores either by refusing to extend loan deadlines or by blocking the sale and transfer of debts to hilco.
Sorry but the whole administration system needs to be overhauled and there needs to be a cap on the fees paid to admins. Look how much they have made out of Rover and the creditors might get 5p in the £.I started with nothing and I am proud to say I still have most of it left.0 -
A friend of mine worked in Woolies,on the last day they were told to take what they wanted. She came home with loads of good stuff Xboxes, dvds, cds all the stuff that had been kept by instead of being sold.
I would't be surprised if this had happened in most branches as lets face it they only had tat out for clearance.0
