installed this yesterday on a HTC S620 running WM6 , lets me watch BBC iPlayer content and youtube etc unlike opera or Internet Explorer/Media player

features here

You can load Skyfire on your existing Windows Mobile (version 5 or 6) or newer Symbian Series 60 phones in a few steps. In a matter of minutes, you can install it either over the air or via your PC. It's free - what more can we say. No need to buy an expensive new phone and get locked into a new contract just because you want a better mobile internet experience.

would ONLY use it on a wifi connection or unlimited 3G contracts , suspect standard GPRS will be too slow for the video

If you register with Skyfire and go on their forum, you will see there are issues with sound to do with reception areas.

on the bottom left of the browser is a zoom button , puts a red square outline on the screen that you can move to the area you want , think the location setting was on the top of the iplayer page

    this page on Skyfire

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/

    not the iplayer software...

watched spooks and some news clips from the BBC homepage

also seems to let you view facebook properly

I read some stuff about it recently, but didn't grt round to downloading it. Now I have (for Nokia E51 which their website didn't recognise), it's pretty clear that it's still a beta version.

Only about one on three times does the browser actually start as far as the home page. Then a Google search for BBC iPlayer is ok, but clicking the link only works on about a quarter of attempts. Then I got served a blank page a couple of times. Then a Top Gear clip stopped part way through and crashed the browser yet again. So about 4% success rate so far

Opera Mini is a much smaller program, starts faster, loads pages much faster and more reliable, they are easier to read zoom and fast scroll, and plays m.youtube or some radio links in Real Player.

so the Symbian version of Skyfire needs to try harder

got the bbc iplayer to work with sound by going to youtube first each time , making sure the sound is there , and then switching to Iplayer , then the sound works.

Even sat on the coach the other day using their free wifi to watch the live BBC news feed on the way to work

agree that as a beta it still needs some work but looks promising if they iron out the glitches by the final version

Actually, maybe I'm not entitled to complain; I just saw this on their website

    Skyfire runs on these phones from Nokia: E61, E61i, E62, E71, N73, N75, N76, N78, N79, N81, N82, N85, N95 and N96

I wonder if E51 is a deliberate or inadvertent omission
