£450 phone bill - HELP!

Hi
Need some real help.....
I was out in Thailand on my Honeymoon when the anti-gov protesters shut down the airport. to try and arrange getting home i used my mobile to make some thailand to thailand calls, however it appears they are still charged at £1.40/min:mad:
Three calls cost me £190, best thing was they didn't secure me a seat on the plane:mad::mad:
I have never missed a payment on my phone bill and my normal monthly charge is £13.....
What can i do, if anything to try and reduce the cost of the bill, or do i have to bend over and take it? I tried speaking to T-Mobile but they say i have to default on my payment before they can do anything (but i don't really want to do that)
HELP ME PLEASE!

Problem here is that you are not disputing that ever made the calls.
You made the calls - obviously out of neccessity, but T-Mobile will see it as a good bit of business for them.
Just see if ou can whack it on a new 0% credit card to buy yourself about 6 months time to pay it off.
All the best0 -
I afraid the_tired_one's answer above is correct. You made the calls, for whatever reason and that's the cost. You could ask T if they can spread the cost over the net few bills, but that's about all. Sorry...0

Joy.....
That's great just before Christmas..... Merry Christmas everyone!0 -
Could you maybe see about claiming it back from your travel insurance due to the circumstances?0

if i were you, i'd say my phone got 'stolen' in the airport, thats if you dont have any records of recent use. or as above said claim on insurance0

Wouldn't work. Your liable for all calls up until you report the phone stolen. . .0 -
Travel insurance doesn't cover it......
Looks like i'm going to have to pay the bill.... not worth my credit rating not to.0 -
Sorry to say you are liable, but perhaps they can arrange a payment plan for 3 months to help ease the cost.
They provided service, which is very high at £1.50 ppm, but unfortunately that is the going rate and for 2 hours of calls very expensive. perhaps your long standing contract with them may help to spread the costs.0 -
Sorry it doesn't help, and unfortunately I can't say this without sounding unsympathetic, but next time check out call rates before going abroad. Using a local Thai SIM, probably for sale somewhere in the airport or certainly nearby, calls to Thailand would be as low as a couple of pence a minute from the cheapest network. To UK would have been 8 ~ 15 pence a minute, or with time to set things up using it with separate callback service could be even cheaper still0

Do you have a spend limit on your phone?
When I had a contract mobile there was a big note on the top of every bill saying my credit limit was £50.
If there's something similiar on your bill, you could argue that they should have cut you off.0
