I sold a couple of console games and a dongle today (nett return £58.71).

I've just wrapped them up so that OH can take them to the Post Office tomorrow morning whilst I'm at work.

eBay total so far is £542.27.

I'm going to make a £500 overpayment at a Nationwide branch tomorrow, so that it hits account before the annual staement which is due in the next week or so.
  • well done on the ebay sales uzubairu, it gives you such a great buzz doesnt it. I have kind of ran out of things to sell on ebay because i hardly buy anything anymore...lol. Goodluck with your mortgage challenges in 2010.:T

I've got to trudge out in the snow and drop 2 parcels (eBay sales) at the Post Office.

Thankfully it's my day off so I didn't have to bother with trying to get to work in the snow.
OH took 2.5 hours to travel 5.5 miles to work.

I might hold off posting anything for the next week, because it will takes ages (due to the bad weather) to get to the buyers and I don't want chargebacks and bad feedback because of lost or delayed items.

I'm going to do a roast dinner for the OH because I felt sorry for him when he rang me and was moaning about his journey to work (even though I suggested he take the train before he left the house).

I'll probably have to walk or take a drawn out bus/train journey tomorrow.

I went to bed very early last night (this walking to work lark is knackering - 6 miles), which has meant that I have woken up a little early this morning.

I thought I might as well update on my first overpayments for 2010.

    Overpayments so far are £130 + £500 + £340 = £970.

The roast chicken dinner I made on Tuesday provided packed lunches for Wednesday and Thursday and I haven't used the Mini since Monday (after crawling home from work in the snow on Monday night).

I worked on New Year's Day and have the option of how I want to be paid (I had originally chosen double time and a day off).
I've now changed that to single time and 2 days off, which means that (with Sunday and Tuesday being my normal days off) I don't have to go back to work until next Wednesday.
I'll be able to save some effort and money and stay nice and warm at home.
I think I might send another £10 to the mortgage to account for the potential savings.

Yesterday,my boss asked me again if I would like to change job roles because we have a vacancy in-store.
It was the department I've been baby-sitting since last June.

I don't know if I really want to be stuck with it long term so I have been saying 'No' every time I've been asked over the last 2 months.
My boss and his boss appreciate the fine job I've done (in keeping things ticking over and getting through Christmas) and they don't think they can find a replacement who could do a better job than me.
    I'm flattered.

I thought that they had given up on asking, when yesterday I was called up to the office and asked again.
My boss is retiring at the end of March, so I think he wants to clear up loose ends, before his replacement arrives.

75 minutes later and I still wasn't budging, but I found myself saying something weird.
"Lets's get to the point, if you want me to do the job so badly (it's clear you do), you'll have to make it worth my while financially and agree to a few conditions that I want in writing."

My boss was a little taken aback and mentioned needing to speak to his superiors and pay bands etc.
I've left him to get back to me once he's spoken to his boss and regional HR.

The department they want me to take over needs a makeover, so I'll have a lot to do, to get it to the right standard consistently.
My boss will call me on Monday with an update.

The post arrived after 4 days without.

Nationwide have sent another letter confirming a reduction in term.
The new end date is September 2018.
We've knocked 13.5 years off the mortgage so far which can only be good.

At this rate, we won't be able to overpay into the mortgage account next year because the end date will have reached June 2016.
We can't exceed that date (without paying an ERC) because that's when the 10 year fixed rate period ends.

So we'll have to look elsewhere to save the overpayments.
Cash ISAs already filled for 2009 and 2010 allocation will be filled by July.

I did this before xmas and got a 2k pay rise. It pays to be cheeky. The way i look at it is its bloomin hard getting your self out in a morning and doing a days work so may as well do it for a good wage. :T

It's good to hear of the request at work; may be worth thinking of taking it if it enhances your CV ahead of the new boss arriving (who will need time to get to know you and may be less willing to help push you forward?). Take care on the pavements whilst walking too.
