I will upload those sites once I get this virus cleared. Reluctant spender is working on it so I will probably get back to you as I don't fully understand some of those differences you've talked about. Thanks so much - AGAIN!0

Hi Guys, I hope you don't mind my re-joining this thread, considering I started it in the first place!
Just a quick question regarding the procedure for installing the above.
I've removed AVG Anti-virus, and have Sunbelt installed. Do I just download and save, then disconnect from the internet, uninstall Sunbelt, then run PC Tools, then Avast? Thanks.

yes

When installing pctools though, make SURE sunbelt is completely gone (Reboot to be sure) and untick the THREATFIRE software it tries to get you to install:idea:0 -
Thanks aliEnRIK! Will do!

Whilst I'm at it, I'm going to take your advice, aliEnRIK and get rid of SpyWareDoctor!
What's the best replacement, do ya think - does anything beat Spybot?0 -
Hi paddywak,
I'd like you to do the following please...
1. Open HijackThis
- Click the Do a system scan only button
- Check the following entries (below)
O2 - BHO: (no name) - !!7E853D72-626A-48EC-A868-BA8D5E23E045} - (no file)
- Close ALL open windows (especially Internet Explorer!)
- Click Fix Checked
Close HiajckThis
2. Download ComboFix from one of these locations:
Link 1
Link 2
Link 3
* IMPORTANT!!! Save ComboFix.exe to your Desktop- Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools; see HERE for help
- Double click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.
- As part of it's process, ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed. With malware infections being as they are today, it's strongly recommended to have this pre-installed on your machine before doing any malware removal. It will allow you to boot up into a special recovery/repair mode that will allow us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware.
- Follow the prompts to allow ComboFix to download and install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console, and when prompted, agree to the End-User License Agreement to install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console.

Once the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed using ComboFix, you should see the following message:
Click on Yes, to continue scanning for malware.
When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Please include the C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply.
A word of warning: Neither I nor sUBs are responsible for any damage you may have caused your machine by running ComboFix on your own. This tool is not a toy and not for everyday use.
ComboFix SHOULD NOT be used unless requested by a forum helper0 -

Keep spybot (Make sure you use the IMMUNISE feature as it stops a lot of nasties at the source)
I use SUPER ANTI SPYWARE in place of doctor
http://www.download.com/SUPERAntiSpyware-Free-Edition/3000-8022_4-10523889.html
(Bare in mind, its a scanner ONLY, but its certainly better than a resident shield that refuses to delete anything it finds
) :idea:0 -
Thanks aliEnRIK!
I recently installed SuperAntiSpy, as advised on this thread.
Do you think this will be enough (and I won't need Spybot)?
My pc is running much quicker now, (especially after un-installing AVG) so I'm reluctant to clog it with any software that may not be absolutely necessary!0 -
Hi, are you still getting the problem?
Have you run Superantispyware.
The running of combofix is sort of where I was heading to next - it may well remove some of those funny looking files, and what it does not can be scripted out.0 -

Well my personal advice is to keep spybot (If only for the immunise feature)
As long as 'tea timer' mode is off then it wont effect your computer in any way:idea:0
