The overpayments will get smaller as the utility bills get larger. Absolutely dreading the gas bill....it's been on far more than previous years because of the cold winter. Do you think the gas people knew and stuck their prices right up into the stratosphere.... bringing them down now Spring's around the corner...

Don't my oil bill this year will be close on to £xxxx shudder to think. Whilst it has come down a bit - its still blinking scary.

Managed to go home at lunchtime let dogs into garden and spectacularily smash the back glass door - it now looks like a spiders web but is all intacted. Just as I think hurrah - something comes round corner to bite my bum. House insurance should cover it - but excess will be gone or I pay for the door - grrrrrrrr.

Funny thing with gas is you can't stock up when its cheap can you? Energy producers =- rip off merchants.

Can you change to a wood burner or wood pellet stove to run central heating?

prefer cheese to toffee, can't afford the dental bills with the latter :rotfl:

Funnily enough my glass sliding door to the back garden has gone funny, sort of opaque, I think the seal must have blown (it's double glazed, as the total window/door length is about 14 foot and very drafty with ordinary windows) I've been wondering whether to claim it on the insurance, but I'd still have to find about 200 for the excess!

I could run the heating from the fire as there is a back boiler. Unfortunately, fire-lighting skills have completely by-passed me. The fire goes out when it's cold, ensuring no hot water or heat, yet blazes full blast as the sun comes out.....

Hey Fay, I found a website that shows you how much oil is over the coming weeks. I know I will have to fill up soon but trying to hang on for the summer prices. If interested pm me. I know I will be using this info as a bartering tool.

Think that's why I don't use mine! Many's the time I've come home to a freezing cold house (or a sub-tropical hot house) I haven't the patience or skill :o

Well looks like I've found the editor for my book, know any publishers hamster?

Thanks for being so understanding! I've decided to buy some St John's Wort, it is called the sunshine herb and it is proven to lift mild depression, so I'm going to give it go. I know it's expensive, but I don't like feeling this way, so if it works it's worth it!! and I'll get it with my advantage points, so technically it's free :T

  • HI there - morning!!
Have a look at 'kava kava' as well herbal remedy also widely available - I tried St Johns Wort - didnt' do much for me (although it does for many folk). Hugs to you and hope you are OK don't let idiot features get you down - his evil twin is alive and well here.

Mind on though - whispers SJW - interferes with certain medicines.

PS well done on over half of CC gone now!! whoop whoop. x

I also tried SJW and found it was helpful for short periods only - it seemed that my body slowly got used to it.

The other things that I investigated (and actually worked) were bananas and brocolli & avocado - apparently full of the same sort of chemical.

I actually suffered quite badly from depression in my uni-years, and it still haunts me now from time to time. Fortunately the OH is very supportive, and we've also come to the conclusion that it's SAD, which means that I've forked out £100 for a wake-up lamp. Which actually seems to work. That along with a holiday in the southern hemisphere last december (which may be slightly over budget:o

In summary - try having a banana a day, and upping the intake of brocolli & avocado :)
