    Hello Piquant,

I hope it is OK for me to gatecrash the thread. I am a newbie and reading as much as is humanly possible on the board and learning loads.
I too am a horsey lady - I had to sell mine in January because of finances and I am in a pretty awful financial position too but am feeling a lot more comfortable about it when I see I am not alone.
Similar to you, a lot of my debt problems began with a medical problem. Mine was having to pay for an operation on my spine to remove a fractured vertebra that had caused me suicidal back pain for many years and was diagnosed as "wear and tear" here in the UK. I had been a serious dressage rider for some years and the doctors blamed that as the cause for my pain.
Only when I moved abroad to work was it noticed by a GP - I was becoming increasingly "lame" when I walked - the sciatic nerve was slowly being severed and she sent me straight to a neurosurgeon who arranged an MRI and operated within a week. Apparently I would have been in a wheelchair within 3 months if I hadn't had the op. Unfortunately I had to pay and although it was a fraction of the cost here in the UK and I am now pain free and "sound" I was and am completely broke.
I am so pleased that you are committed to keeping your horse - they are the most wonderful creatures and such a source of comfort when the going gets rough. I love reading your posts and look forward to the diary entries.
You have made me smile today....... :T

Oh you poor thing that sounds awful, thank goodness someone spotted it in time

I am fine now, just find a few moves a little difficult, but nothing gets in the way of me living my life and trying to have a little fun along the way :D

I can do dressage after a style, I was gifted a very opinionated show off horse though who firmly believes he knows best! We go out together through the forest and fields, very little worries him, he's just special. A couple of years ago he escaped his field to investigate a very tasty stepped haystack in a neighbouring field. He was found at the top, 15 feet, casually grazing :eek:

About the same time I got my first grey hair  He had to be winched down by the local fire brigade as he refused to come down the steps in the stack, the little dear actually threatened to rear...

You are quite right horses are wonderful creatures, on occasion slightly less wonderful than others...:rotfl:

But he has obviously seen the error of his ways and is now seeking out better things. *nodding lots* Yup. Definately better off with you.

lol at the horse rescue stories!

I had a pony many years ago who got out of his field and fell into a neighbours swimming pool!!! ( I didn't live where he was kept, so sadly I didn't have a big house! )

Piquant - good luck on your journey xxx

He is a repeat "seen the error of his ways" type of person, hence the ex ex title. Am really hoping he's got his act together this time. This is why we're dating, to see if we still like each other and whether both of us want a future together

Stop trying to make me a romantic sloppy KT, most unbecoming :rotfl::rotfl:

Thanks, I shall need it, it's hard being cool, remote and sexy, when you're actually more like an excitable bouncy labrador :rotfl:

Went to see my boys yesterday. Unfortunately old boys rug has been rubbing his withers and quite a sore is developing. He is now sporting a gorgeous new rug with neck cover.
