Here!!
Had a bit of a mishap...
Went out with the Captain to the by-way, good place for a gallop, narrows in places and opens in others. We had a super time and were making our way back, giving the cows in the field the evil eye - as you do - when we heard screaming and found we had two ponies, on with child, one without, hurtling towards us  I could see the other child standing and screaming a way back, so the Captain and I set off to catch the pony and child. The Captain was great, he blocked the way and the pony slowed and I managed to catch it. We then took the girl (aged about 7) back to the other child and went to find the missing pony. Didn't take too long, we caught up and ran alongside until I could grab the reins. Got him nearly all the way back when the b*gg*r spooked and yanked my shoulder out....
Took the children back to their yard, whereupon one of the mothers shouted at me for not picked up a missing stirrup iron
Why were children of such a young age in such a dangerous place and without adult supervision - the mind bogles...
Back to the point, I've been missing as the adventure re-dislocated my dodgy shoulder.Total debt at October 2008: £67,213.30

Shoot.
Sounds very nasty.
You should have just turned hoof and legged it from the yard taking the pony with you...... Some people are soooooo ungrateful it beggar's belief. Goes to show that a Good Deed these days seems to end up punished.
Good on ya and if you ever found my pony alone and returned it to me, I'd greet you with champers and a big hug.** Proud to be dealing with my debts **LBM - Jan 2009 _pale_ : £24,802.21 :eek:February 2010 :silenced: : £18,078.47 (not including OD)July 2010

Yeah, it's a funny world when a stirrup iron is more important than a little girl!
It didn't even occur to the woman, what could have happened, broken necks etc. Nor how lucky she was that a brave and sensible horse was there, rather than one that would have taken off with the bolting ponies.
In my opinion, which is not important, small children should not be left alone in charge of large animals!
Now, I am sort of out of action and a little miffed!Total debt at October 2008: £67,213.30

Totally agree with you. I am also of the thinking that small people should not be allowed to be solely in charge of dogs either. Anything can happen.
Lucky child to be blessed with such a totally amazing and caring mother. NOOOT. Fortunately for the child and the ponies that you cared and didnt find them all mashed up in a heap at the side of a B road.
Sending you virtual Pimms, a fruit salad of your fav exotic fruits and a tube of deep heat.
Wishing you a speedy recovery.
PS : Captain, once again, proving that he is a true gent.** Proud to be dealing with my debts **LBM - Jan 2009 _pale_ : £24,802.21 :eek:February 2010 :silenced: : £18,078.47 (not including OD)July 2010

My terrible maths has let me down again! My overall total has gone up a hundred pounds, not because I've spent the money, but because I'd transposed the numbers...:oTotal debt at October 2008: £67,213.30
