free p+p on dvds, sod that i wont be selling anymore dvds on e-bay there cutting there own throats
Give Amazon a try, they seem to be picking up some business recently. You get a credit of £1.25 (someone correct me?) for a DVD but will lose about half that in fees, but can still work out a good way to sell as you list for free.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. If eBay have to go down this enforced free p&p route then they need to do two things:
1) Make it faster and easier to list
2) scrap listing fees.
Compare both with Amazon and Play and you have to ask why bother with eBay.0 -

I use ebay and Amazon for books, it depends what I am selling as Amazon is good for standard items or quirky stuff that might take a while to sell as you can just put it up for sale and forget it. However their fees make ebay look cheap  It is a good steady turn over of sales though and the convenience of listing and leaving is brilliant and I am a real Amazon enthusiast.
For popular stuff or books where I know I have a strong market I use ebay as I can start at a price I am happy to accept and then let bidders fight it out. I have often sold a book/DVD /CD on ebay for much more than I had it listed for on Amazon due to the competition element of an auction.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Now January 27th is getting nearer, I have one question. I sell DVDs & I was wondering, does the free P&P only apply to newly listed items from Jan 27th or does it apply for every DVD currently listed, forcing me to manually change each listing?0

I think the main point to this is that they don't want you selling them. Its a move for more professional sellers in these markets. I'd guess that those were the areas they get the most complaints (copy and pirate DVDs and CDs and loads of dodgy activity in mobile phones) and the lowest spend per item goods..0 -
I'm really slow here, so sorry in advance. What does this mean:
"All sellers listing on eBay.co.uk will have to specify at least one domestic postage service and P&P cost" ? I mean, what changes from how it is now?0 -

There has been some discussion on the community boards but it is believed that it only applies to items listed on or after the 27th. Therefore you can list items under the old rules on the 26th, even BINs that will run for 30 days.
Shops appear to be slightly different though as in the last lot of changes some shop sellers have said that even those that were listed as 'run till sold' were pulled after 30 days as being non compliant.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I have just viewed the maximum P&P rates and have to ask how is one supposed to be able to add for Recorded Delivery or Special Delivery for an expensive item?
Paypal (which is, of course, owned by Ebay) insist sellers use a trackable system when sending items but I cannot see how you can add for the cost of this on Ebay.
This seems a massive discrepancy to me - buyers are being enforced to add to the listing cost for high ticket items to protect themselves, something that should, of course, be the preserve of Ebay and Paypal.0 -

Again I am only going by the general feeling on the community boards.
At first it was htought that this meant that a seller could comply merely by showing a postage amount as 'seller standard rate' . However, some users believe it means that even that is not sufficient and that at least one actual postage method must be shown, for example '1st class' , the example that ebay give somewhere is the seller specifiying costs for a courier.
However, on ebay .com it does still allow 'sellers' standard rate' to be used, so actually I am not sure that the new rule is 100% clear.
At the moment of course no postage has to be shown in the postage boxes and they cna be left unfilled with perhaps a statement on the listing saying 'contact seller for postage options'. Now at least one price must be shown. This hsould get round th eproblem of naive buyers buying somehting that shows no postage costs and then getting stung with something excessive when the items fails to make what the seller was hoping for.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. At the moment it is only books and media and it isn't common for cheaper books to be sent tracked anyway. If something does go over £36 (and I have sold a few books for more than that) then seller must just use part of the item cost to cover special. It is the same on Amazon where you pay for tracked post out of your postal credit if you wish.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
