Britain has gone mad - Labour 'most trusted' on economy!

Gordon Brown: Economic incompetent.
Sad old fashioned Socialist being exposed for tried and failed perhaps well intentioned but completely unrealistic policies. Every initiative is geared towards political survival and pandering to their own voter base opposed to the wellbeing of the country.
For all you good time Nu Labour socialists "that would be the privately educated dismissive elite that have as much in common with the working class as Michael Winner." (without the self deprecating sense of humour)
Just ask yourself one question:
If the Tories had proposed half the legislation of this mad autocratic power junkie administration you would have all been screaming Facists but coz they wear a red tie for convenience you look the other way.
Shame on you! Gordon cares about Gordon end of story.0 -

What about a crocheted lady to stick on the vulgar loo roll?...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
(I would argue that the Iraqi invasion was a mistake, though I must stress, I think the intentions behind it were good). But just not in this instance.
Then that is, in all honesty, a great example of "good intentions pave the path to hell"....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
And of course all people that are confident in their opinions also hmm a lot too?
You say you are confident in your opinions but what are they are based on? Life? Well you've yet to experience that! So try your opinions on the people who are suffering from Brown's past decisions/policies. And then move onto other people who were shafted in the 80s, 90s and are now being shafted again. After listening to the rants of such people I'm sure your years spent at some exclusive educational establishment will seem rather out of phase to the realities of life. Politics and economics is bull$hit and has never solved anything!
You should have continued with History.
Oh come on, "hmm" was my way of trying to sound conciliatory.
And what do you mean I've yet to experience life? I am young, yes, but I have a job, I pay bills, I pay rent, I have a loan, I buy things, and I understand cause and consequence. What else do I need to qualify? The wisdom that comes with age? Certainly, I don't remember the 80s, but I do remember the 90s, and what I don't know about, I can read about - and that can in some ways be more revealing than living through it, as issues can be put into perspective.
I find you a little belittling, to be honest.0 -

I did.
(despite defending your point on youth to a degree).
What, because I have an opinion? Because I try to back what I think up with arguments? Suddenly I disagree with someone (or everyone more like), and that makes me condescending?
And anyway, even if you do find me condescending, is that enough of a reason for someone to act in the same way? An eye for an eye? Very noble of you.0 -

No. It might be the end of your story, but you can't come out with a pile of rubbish, slap about a few opinions and call them facts from the Bible.
1) Brown isn't a socialist. And that's not a opinion, that's a fact. Google what socialism means.
2) Every partly panders to their voter base. All they try to do is extend that voter base.
3) "New Labour socialists" - there's no such thing.
4) And as for New Labour or socialist being privately educated, not only is that unlikely, but also, so what? What's your point? Given what you've said above, ie that Labour "pandering their own voter base", I hardly think the privately educated are this voter base.
Nothing you say makes sense.0 -
I find you a little belittling, to be honest.
My apologies, I didn't mean to belittle you.
All I meant to get across was that I was like you except my interest at the time was with the Tory party. After working with and meeting many MPs I soon realised that they were in general a bunch of t0ssers.
Then I tried NuLabour and very swiftly came to the same conclusion! I then realised that politics would never solve any problems! And I also realised that political theory (all) has never actually been put in practice...even Hitler didn't follow his own political theory.
At the end of it all I realised that they're all interested in one thing: power and status! Unfortunately that does very little for the NHS, schools, crime blah blah blah.
I don't want to debate this with you as it is my opinion. I believe that the economic and political model we participate in as a civilisation is seriously flawed! On one end of the scale we have very rich people and on the other we have starving people? Why does this happen? Economics and politics!
Why do the richest nations on earth keep the poorest in poverty and debt? Economics and politics!
Why are we in a so called rich nation allowed to get into so much debt? Is it because we pay interest and the debt condemns us to a life of economic slavery?
I have lots of questions and I think if I'd asked them at Uni I would have been asked to leave. It's a shame I didn't and I'm quite annoyed that I wasted my time by participating in debating societies talking about utter crap when they're real issues in this world! Such as people starving in the 3rd world and the use of fear and scarcity to keep us all in line!
In Nazi Germany the propaganda hawks used fear as a way to control the masses. They told the masses they were being attacked. Anyone who denounced such claims were labelled as unpatriotic and an enemy of the people (the state). They claimed that the enemy was in fact the Jews and Jewish communism. They then went on to arresting politicians - dragging them out of the Reichstag (the Parliament where they were granted legal immunity) and murdering them because they "resisted arrest". They even went so far as murdering a former Chancellor. Then they pushed through an Enabling Act to protect the people...we know the rest of the story.
Yet here we are over 60s years later. We're told that we're being attacked. People who protest are labelled as terrorists. We're told - indirectly - that Islamic extremism is the enemy. A politician has now been arrested and the state's Police are now - as it seems - above Parliament. We also have a govt that has pushed through an Enabling Act called the Terrorist Act. We hear and read reports about this govt using this act against another politician and against another sovereign country: Iceland. Finally, we've invaded two countries and for what to encircle Iran?
People are dying and for what reason? During WW2 a mother or father could say "My son died fighting against the Nazis and for our freedom"! So what exactly are people dying for these days?
Again I'm not going to debate this but I'm pretty sure that the realities of today's REAL politics and economics are very far away from what you perceive them to be.
People don't have to die from war, famine, fear or scarcity but they do and why? Well because of three - two of which you know - reasons:
Politics
Economics
Religion
Just my opinion and if you disagree then please ignore. But today's - along with the past - political parties are not interested in anyone but themselves.0
