Used Jaguars are notoriously unreliable! Just search any automotive forums for users' woes.

It's indeed a posh Mondeo. The whole Jaguar engine is supplied by Ford :)

If you want luxury, buy a Kia Magentis/Hyundai Sonata - you'd get these cars in your budget and within warranty! Then put a Jaguar badge on bonnet :)

If you're really after a luxury brand, try Mercedes/BMW instead. At least they are far better than Jaguar.
Happiness is buying an item and then not checking its price after a month to discover it was reduced further.

How do you do that? I didn't think the average bottom had muscles in the cheek to approximate speech so well.

No no no, Mercedes are full of problems since they were taken over by Chrysler. BMW 3 series, what a boring bland looking car that is. Yes the X Type diesel engine might be exactly the same as the Mondeo, but there the similarity ends and as for the notoriously unreliable quote, I'm afraid that's an old wives tale and probably dates back to Jags takeover by BL in the 70s, and for the ill informed these stories unfortunately stick around (ask any Alfa owner). Look at any car forum and you'll see problem after problem, that's what forums are there for after all, but look a bit deeper and you'll find the vast majority of X Type owners are pleased with their cars.

Buy one PJB and you won't regret it.

Not really - badly maintained BIG Jaguars, are a problem, caused by their owners not looking aftewr them!!

& Mercedes!!!???? They have admited their failing quality control issues & attempting to sort it... we'll see.

    BMW nothing special, either!!

No way i would buy a BMW or Merc, can't stand them or most people that drive them! ever have liked them.

Always loved Jags and my heart was ruling my head.

If i was to consider an alternative ot would probably be a Saab, Volvo or Jap as tend to be bullit proof! Drive this through the recession and then towards the end of recession bite bullit and get a Jag. Then i would be in a position not to worry about running costs and depreciation.
