ITV digi box to pick up freeview?

Hey,

one of my nieghbour threw out an old ITV digital box the other day so i nabbed it of fhis bin. - works fine.

But can i use it as a freeview box?

Does it have to be connected to ITV digital cableling in street/ satalite

I have connected it to my arial but there is no signal - the box works but no signal to box.

Does anybody know why this would happen.

The ITV digital box should pick up Freeview fine. All you do is plug your aerial into it and connect it to your tv. You will need to scan for new channels.

yea i thought it would but it's not detecting any sginal - i've tried scanning but nothing.

i have freeview already with a signal booster attached - all i did was swap all the cables over to the itv box - in theory it should of worked fine but didin't.

no really - is there any other reason apart from it being broken why there'd be no signal. do i need a satalite etc

What makes you think you need a satellite?
Freeview rose up from the ashes of Ondigital and uses the same technology of digital terrestrial broadcasting.
Apart from the thing being faulty(why it was in the bin??!) have you got your aerial connected to the RF in socket on the box and not the RF out? Might be worth plugging the aerial into your TV directly to check its got a signal on it.
