JeanM You put it in so many better words than me. Yep Hard tmes hurt. and the tears sting but there is better, there is hope and there is a new year with new aims, ambitions, hope and real challenges but you can and will do it. This is so self satisfying but I send this poem, which I wrote whilst also fighting Cancer, "I Can I will" to many peeps. I wrote it when at my lowest & on the sherry but found it really sobering and positive. If anyone wants it Message me.0

Thank you Cistolic :A I'm getting all soppy this christmas. All the kids are growing up. My youngest is at her bf tonight, so just me and my beautiful hubby. I'll ask you for the poem later if you don't mind. I've only just about stopped the tears about my new grand-daughter been born in the usa, healthy and beautiful but so far away.
I deleted my post cause I thought I was getting too sentimental.

I bet you've all gone to bed now I've finally decided to join you!
It's a funny time of year; I think we tend to look back and generally wish for better things to come even if we have no idea how to change our circumstances.
Like many of you, I've had my moments. Actually this has not been a bad year for me but I had a period of 4 years during which I lost my brother (his choice... ) then my mum, then my dad. I now have only a sister who I don't see as we live a long distance apart and she has her own family - six kids, all grown and with children. I never had the opportunity for children which is somewhat ironic considering how many I've cared for in almost 20 years of nannying. I still see most of them on occasion and there's a lot of love there.
Blimey, I'd better shut up - I'm starting to feel maudlin!!!
Well I only have one day till Christmas - ours is happening on Christmas Eve. We have OH's 3 kids (not kids at all now; 21, 19 & 15) for the turkey dinner at 5 o'clock although the youngest will be here all day, then she'll stay over till Christmas morning. For the first time ever I'm feeling relaxed about cooking so it's bound to be a disaster. I'm nipping out in the morning for the last bits and bobs. I did most of it today in Sainsburys but I'll check out Morrisons as they had some good cheese and bits at much better prices.Avoiding plastic, palm oil, UPF and Nestlé0 -

D'ya know, I'm so laid back about cooking this year that if the oven stopped working I'd shrug my shoulders and offer everyone cheese sandwiches and ice-cream... And I bet we'd enjoy it.:rotfl:Avoiding plastic, palm oil, UPF and Nestlé0
