I will eventually comment on here when I am not drunk (not that that seems to happen very often at the moment).
We recently made the big decision to sell-up - although we were devastated to get off the property ladder we were just sinking so fast - we are now in a completely different situation - although we still have £40,000 of debts, this is still completely different to having £80,000 of debts and we can now say each month that we can afford to pay for what is necessary and can afford to eat - earlier in the year there were many times when we were diving down the sofa cushions and in coat pockets to try and scrape together a few pounds to buy food for the week.
I have now been on the competitions board for a year - I have won some lovely prizes (ok not as many as some people, but I am so grateful and happy about the ones I have won). Unfortunately we have had to sell some things in order to buy food. However, we really hope that for 2009 any prizes I/we are lucky enough to win can be used by us or shared amongst our family (like my Iceland vouchers that I have won recently that I was over the moon to be able to share with both sets of parents).
Sending very very big wishes to everyone on MSE and comps board. Although I don't post very often (even though I have been on here for about 3 years) I am constantly reading the boards and have had so much help and support. You guys are so inspiring and I wish you all the very best for the future :j (and many many competitions wins for you all)0 -

Hi Why
We did exactly the same 3 years back when I took ill and found out the insurance we had only covered hubby for illness & redundancy - it was the best thing we ever did, much less pressure / stress and better quality of life. The way I think of it is they'll only make you sell your house eventually to pay for care or something else they can think of so why not have a decent life rather than just survival.Happy with any wins this year :A0 -
Why Oh Why. Yep Why Me? We are only given as much as we can take hun. Blessings to you for much better to come and I pray its soon for you. This is Oh so long ago (40 years) but at 20 a baby on the way not a penny to stcratch me !!!! with.
Had to sell my treasured 11 plus pass (An exam you passed to move to a good senior school) present from Mum & Dad. A 4 track tape recorder. Second hand shop gave me £2.50 (£2. 10 shillings) A weeks groceries then was £5.Was in furnished accommodation renting so that was all I owned. I cried but had to do it.
Things do get better and easier hun. but it takes time and determination. I have at last paid off my mortgage. I at 20 I didnt expect to live past 40 cos that was ancient. but I still feel 18 mentally. Life doesnt pass you by unless you let it but as time passes things can only get better0 -
