Recession, what recession...Isn't it great??

UK slowdown worse than forecast as output slumps
Industrial production plunged at the fastest pace in nearly six years in October, heightening expectations that the recession is gathering pace as revisions to September's data indicate that the economy shrank by more than initially thought between June and September
There was more gloomy news as separate figures showed that the UK trade deficit had widened to £7.8 billion, from £7.4 billion in September, indicating that the falling pound is not boosting manufacturers' exports.
FACT, anyone and any business can be pulled under now. It's a rout, a bankruptcy tsunami, the banks are panicking, trust no counter-party, paper is worthless - soon you won't even be able to buy gold at any price.0 -
seriously though micha... you signature ruins any creditibility that your post will have an ounce of intelligence.

I rent a 3bed semi with a lodger, I have two cars on the road and a third in several bits.
I do earn considerably more than the average mitchaa posted, but it's saved and I never touch it. Ever. Until I need it for a house that is.
I have secondary savings from that 16K left over month to month and those pay for big items like insurance, holidays etc.
Am I a typical lower wage earner, or just a prudent one?
Suffice to say, I have a nest egg to fall back on, but having been unemployed in the past for 6 months and not touched it, I'd like to think that I can do it again should I need to.
Of course I have a contingency fund anyway from my 16K savings to tide me over for a couple of months.
People overspend in their daily lives. We can all get by on less than we do. I know I could cut down quite a lot of what I spend monthly, but it's nice to have a good standard of living.
Perhaps a recession will make people realise what they actually value.
You are NOT a lower wage earner:rolleyes:"there are some persons in this World who, unable to give better proof of being wise, take a strange delight in showing what they think they have sagaciously read in mankind by uncharitable suspicions of them"(Herman Melville)0 -
Mitchaa......
(This is so nice to be able to debate on here again)
For those who have a fair bit of throw away money then I doubt it will be seriously having an impact negatively....in fact, they are probably having as much fun as you spending the pennies (not in the toilet sense!).
For me though, it makes no difference if a tumble dryer is £200 or £50, I just don't have the money to buy it...so at the moment, there is no difference from what there was a few months ago for me.
Actually tell a lie, my diesel is £4 a week cheaper than it was in July!
And lets all not forget that a bargain is ONLY a bargain if you truly need the item in the first place... otherwise its just another piece of tat added to an already bulging collection of tat.0 -

My signature is there purely to ruffle a few feathers as everyone believes that everywhere is back at 2004/2005 levels.
Its obviously working as it appears to be ruffling a few feathers
Im very well aware of what the word 'profit' means, but everyone likes talking paper figures here and it wouldn't have the same effect if i changed it to your wording

I must admit I don't actually notice it anymore Mitchaa...unless someone draws attention to it!We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
but its just asking for trouble. Like saying... the earth is flat...
Eventually it'll be wrong and you will look like egg on your face thats all. Was tempted to copy your sig for the next 1 year
. Be funny heh. 0 -

I never really notice signatures at all, they usually aren't worth the effort (-:...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
Mitchaa...you are being very short sighted! Scotland (and aberdeen in particular) has seen house price increases whilst the rest of the UK started to drop. Our time has come as the central belt is now seeing drops. Scotland (and Aberdeen) will follow the rest of the UK and of course things will start to improve after the rest of the UK.
Have a read of this:

Sorry, I only just found this...Bar..but I don't feel it's his passion. It would need to be to be able to go all the way as it's a hard profession to qualify in.neverdespairgirl wrote: »Depends - does he want to go the Bar or become a solicitor?
Some of the Inns do scholarships for the law conversion, and it's also possible to do it part-time and work as well.
And pricey to get there too.....I just read your other post.0
