I was in it to-day! Good news it is £6.50 a bag! PM me if you need directions.Dave0 -

just be aware of the quality of coal also, around Dromore there are several small places selling High Heat Coal in a white bag for £6.50 per 25kg, it burns extremely quickly, other places in the same area sell Hayes Premium Household for £7.99 per 25kg, this burns for twice as long and and its all round better coal.0

Well for the last 5-6 weeks I have been experimenting with coal. The local coal merchants probably think I am from Watchdog or writing a book on a coal
Anyway I have tried just about type of coal I can find and there are huge price differences. I finally settled on some Oxbow Glow which is a smokeless fuel made in Immingham. We are not in a smokeless zone so we can burn any coal.
I tried cheap house coal, premium house coal, Polish Bituminous coal, Oxbow and Home fire. I also tried Wildfire but I wasn't over impressed with it. The coal is pretty much the same across the range although the Polish coal did seem to burn very hot.
I have finally settled for the Oxbow Glow as I have negotiated a better price. It lasts much longer than the house coal and gives off tremendous heat with a low flame. The ash left after a fire is also significantly lower than the coal. Homefire is pretty much the same but it is slightly more expensive.
I spoke to a friend who lives in Scotland and she has to pay almost double what I pay and smokeless fuel for her is £22 for 25kg:eek: I have managed to find a supplier for her that will halve her costs. She has to buy it by the tonne but she is doing that anyway!!
Hope this helps some people looking for coal or smokeless fuel0 -
