Would be a shame if it's a wild goose chase as would have saved us a bit of money - we like to have the fire roaring away over Christmas.
I pm'd absoluteutopia and a couple others but no one has got back to me.I like my money right where I can see it - hanging in my closet.;)0 -

Some of us don't have a choice.
I only have an open fire with a back boiler that heats my radiators & water.

Did you guys ever find coal in your region? Sorry this is a late reply, I just found the thread following the opening of our open fire.
The prices seem very cheap. I live in Gloucestershire and we pay £16 for 50kg of house coal. I have to say we started using Oxbow Glow which is a smokeless fuel and have negotiated a price of £18 per 50kg. It is easier to light, it burns very hot and it lasts longer than house coal. Oh and it is much cleaner in general.
Hope you found some and it wasn't too expensive...garages are a complete rip-off. They wanted £12 for 10kg which is a huge price difference :mad:0 -

Is this the place near Jubilee Pet Store, and the MOT centre etc - I went back their earlier in the year and it was all shut up, thought they had closed down but delighted if they are still open - coal was great and you drive straight into the building, so you don't even have to get wet!
Bloomfield Fuels in East Belfast used to be good value too, but havent checked them in a while.DJWW - cos we won't let it!0 -
have you heard of capper fuels in Dungannon ,went with a trailer and got 5 ,50kg bags of smokless coal for £55.50 same coal in belfast costs aroung £75 ,even after my fuel down still saved around £10 but will be getting a lot more coal next month0
